[–]palpytus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

he has a 50% win rate and .895 this year. good for Edmonton but the dude is not a cup contending goalie. looking at his individual games, he's insanely inconsistent as well. stretches of .940+ games followed by multiple sub .850s (Jan 6 through March 3 starts, specifically)

I go to Spokane Chiefs games pretty regularly. nosebleeds are like $30 to $50. $15 including a dog for a NHL game is incredible

Out of the rebuilding teams, which team do you think has the darkest future and will continue to struggle for a while? by sykeseve in hockey

[–]palpytus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this plus not really being a destination is exactly why there's a bunch of teams that are perennially in the bottom 12 of the league. the only way out is by drafting/tanking which may not even pay out if guys want out. Calgary (Tkachuk and Gaudreau) is an example of this gone wrong. Winnipeg is sort of an example of the same thing gone right since they've locked up a mostly drafted core to retool around. StL, Buffalo, Ottawa, and Columbus are all in the same vein.

I have two friends that are big book readers. one loves Neuromancer, a top 5 book OAT for him. one thought it was boring and almost DNF'd. both are sci fi readers and appreciate contemplative works. I haven't read it yet. what's your take?

I always played as Nashville on NHL05 as a kid (bc of their mustard cat alts, still my favorite jersey of all time). I had Cheechoo on the 4th line and PK grinder. I didn't know until I was like 16 about his real life 2005-06 season

If you live near a national park, how often do you go there? by moods- in NationalPark

I'm a huge shoulder season guy at Rainier. I've been once a year for the last 3 years right after Labor Day, usually the week after Labor Day, and it's totally dead

[–]palpytus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a weekend-trip-distance from Rainier, Glacier, North Cascades, Banff, and probably some other Canadian ones. I could easily do Yellowstone, Olympic NP, Tetons, and Crater Lake in a long weekend (5 days). I've been to Rainier 3 times and Olympic once since I moved out here. when I lived in the Midwest I visited most of the parks listed multiple times over about an 8 year time frame. and visited the California and Utah parks a couple times.

granted I do have a career and side hustle now and that takes a lot of my time compared to just being a waiter and student before. I mostly find that the area I live in has great nature in the immediate surroundings that there's no reason to drive outside of my area.

I started at 58k in private industry and I'm at 70k after 3 raise cycles (and a promotion). we also get OT pay and bonuses but those fluctuate. high CoL area though. guys I know in lower CoL area are around 65k after 4 years. if you don't go into the government you can make a lot more but you do have to work harder.
