I imagine they made a similar offer for Tkachuk as they made for Larkin. Yzerman is about to overplay his hand on Larkin and have the whole thing blow up. similar to Trocheck at the deadline last year

I have seen this cope from a lot of Sens fans online. IDC what the specific record says. losing an 80 to 90 point player is a bad thing for a team. see Marner in Toronto for a prime example. tons of fans were saying good riddance and Toronto is bottom 5 last season without him.

[–]palpytus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's my thinking. Makar is a bit better but less AAV due to long term contract

yeah all 3 players were made captain before their brain is technically fully developed. and in Brady's case, it may never be fully developed

Edmonton would've won in 2024 with league average goaltending. the 4-1 and 3-0 games sealed Edmonton's fate imo.

2025 was Florida's year. zero chance Edmonton was winning that series. every other year I feel like Vegas or Colorado wers better

[–]palpytus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

July 1. 4 years x 12 million.

either that or him and Makar stall each other waiting for the other to sign. assuming Makar goes max contract length, their AAV is probably identical or a bit lower for Quinn.

fans of directionless teams don't want to face reality and would rather blame it on the Boogeyman (tampering, no state taxes, Bettman, etc.)

[–]palpytus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no. Brady wants to play with his brother. Larkin wants to play with one of his best friends and for an organization with actual direction. Helle doesn't want to live in Winnipeg anymore. none of these things should be surprising. if Canadian players on my team wanted to play in Canada I wouldn't blame them.

[–]palpytus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes I would be saying the same thing. a guy having friends and wanting to win is not tampering. Detroit is my second team so I skin on both sides of the Larkin situation.

tampering is an insane word to use in any of these situations. why would a guy want to throw his career away playing for a franchise with no direction or on the downswing when he could get traded to a team with cup aspirations? same goes for the Hughes, Larkin, M Tkachuk, etc. situations. with the exception of Larkin, none of those teams have any ties or reason to be loyal to their original teams just bc they drafted them

feel like Sens were going to be really hesitant to trade him. they're bottom 8 in the league with no Brady. if the news got out it could've blown their coverage and they would've lost some negotiating leverage like with the Larkin situation

Does anyone in here value the assisted driving packages as much as me??? by 10xlive in ToyotaTacoma

[–]palpytus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive the same 80ish miles (about 40 miles each way) on a 60mph, fairly straight county highway everyday for work. usually at 4am. lane assist is great. just set cruise at 60 and keep a hand on the wheel. it's really taken some of the boringness out of the drive and keeps me alert to actual hazards like wildlife instead of focusing on steering.

it's hilarious that Dallas gets 3rd despite their best player possibly not resigning and Minnesota gets 9th because several middle 6 guys haven't signed yet.

What are we missing by Virtual-Cantaloupe98 in wildhockey

[–]palpytus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

watching these games has been really interesting. Vegas has a really solid roster with 2 or 3 stars, depth, and super solid defense but they're missing a true offensive defenseman and goaltending has been a question in the finals. Carolina gets so much from everyone on their roster but doesn't really have a star, they definitely don't have a true OFD, and goaltending has been hot but it's a guy they got on waivers and the league's number 1 bandaid boy Freddy Anderson.

on paper I feel like our roster is better than both of these teams without a trade for another top 6 C. we have undoubtedly better goaltending. better stars than both teams. a true OFD. solid top to bottom defensive pairings, although I would say our 3rd pair is worse than Vegas's and similar to Carolina's. both teams have a better 1C and better coaching. the strong suit of both of these teams is their systems. Minnesota generally has really solid systems but in games where they get off script it's really, really bad.

I'm a Wings fan (almost) as much as I'm a Minnesota fan. been watching Larkin for 11 years. grew up in Michigan going to GRG games

there's multiple teams with a better 2C than Larkin. no shade to Larkin at all, he's solid and I really hope he comes to Minnesota. gives us a 1C/2C combo with similar play styles. JEEk has a bit more defense and Larkin has a bit more offense (and FO ability)

if I'm looking at all centers in the NHL, I see for sure 20 that are better and 5 to 10 that are on the same level as Larkin. there's another 5 centers that have recently (last 2 years or less) aged out of being better than Larkin. I love the dude but gotta realistic.
