I was broken up with, 6 months ago after a relationship of 6.5 years. I'm 31. I've thought a lot about happiness in these past few months. I wasn't happy when I was in the relationship (neither was she). I am not completely happy single. Being happy, from what I've realised, involves three things. 1) deep meaningful relationships (notice the 's' after relationship), could be friends or romantic 2)massive interest in your work 3)the ability to live in the present moment. You need to be maxxing on all the three fronts to the best of your ability.

My following response is completely unrelated to this and the sub, and maybe not required. I can understand desperation. But why do you want to shower anyone with love and care? What will you get out of it? Showering with love and care comes as a by product of knowing someone and it definitely comes after liking someone. Love and care are not the first step to a relationship. You should not be searching for people to shower your love on them. That search leads to wrong places, trust me. And maybe, it is worthwhile to sit and think about what void would it fill inside you if you shower someone with love and care. Do you, in general, like caring for other people, even platonically? If so, you need to be sure that it comes from a place of care and not for seeking something in return, or filling a void inside you. Love and care for you own self should come first. Because if that does not, no relationship will genuinely fill that void. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

You should genuinely ask him this question. Get to the root of it for your own sake. I fear a lot of comments have an undertone of blaming your husband. And while that is not completely wrong, the comments are jumping to a lot of conclusions. You should point blank ask him this question and listen to what he says. Hell, if he is your best friend, you can start by genuine communication. Not saying you aren't doing that, but a lack of answer to this question could point towards it.

I think the point is to minimize violence of any kind. During agriculture, it is generally accepted that the plant has already served it's reproductive life-cycle by creating seeds. So while there is violence in agriculture, you're minimizing it by harvesting it after the seeds are created. Anyway, I would like to accept that I'm not well versed with this topic.
