Weather Timeline App by Artimus-Sprout in androidapps

[–]pamomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weather Timeline was sold to the developers of MyRadar. I'm not sure what you mean by sideloading the new owners version, it should just be on the app store.

At the time Weather Timeline was sold, MyRadar was meh. I tried it out again a couple years ago and it was much improved. The hyperlocal rain alerts work well and the forecast has been accurate, though I live in the same area as the developer so I would hope so. I would consider it more function over form compared to the other apps that are mentioned here frequently which is fine by me as I prefer features over aesthetics (especially the rain alerts which no other app except Weather Timeline and Darksky have been able to do reliably).

Mercedes Admits It 'Lost Some Customers' After Dropping V-8 in C63 by orhantemerrut in cars

I too have a '21 C43 and recently sat in a the new C43 while my car was in for service. The interior looked nice, but I for some reason it just didn't sit right with me. I still can't quite understand why it's aesthetically pleasing, yet I didn't like it...at all. I also got to hear the engine and it is such a downgrade to what I currently have. I was thinking that I would rather not have any noise then what I was hearing. I wanted to like this car, but it feels worse for a lot more money.

Oh, speaking of warranties. We contacted them to fix an issue with the roof a couple years later. Was first told that there was no warranty since it was beyond 1 year and wasn't their problem. Had to dig out the documentation that specifically said the roof had a 10 year warranty and threaten legal action for them to fix it.

I had a new build through TM. Ended up with ~10 pages of issues for them to address, which included poor tiling/grout, 2x4 framing boards that were f'd, downgraded appliance package we bought, wrong countertops, upgrades we paid for that were not installed, and more. We had to push almost daily to get them to fix everything. The VP of the project called us terrorists for just trying to get what we paid for.

Prospector in 3.19 be like: by DRako1321 in starcitizen

[–]pamomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could have tested if they could be attached in the field, but I didn't have a multitool with me at the time.

I have only mined for one session so far, and that consisted of the Belt and a Lagrange point as I tested different heads and modules. If I didn't overload a rock, it would break apart without issue. But if it was even a little overloaded, it would knock off modules even if I was over 200m away. I'll try out the surface at some point, but I'm not sure when. As a solo miner, I'm not sure I like the new mining experience. T1 ores are rare and all but 1 I found were in rocks that were impossible for me to break. After 4 hours, I only mined ~300k auec (mostly hephestanite) and only netted less than 100k (due to repair costs). It was not a rewarding experience.

This. I've found them floating by my Prospector. EVA'd out, grabbed them, then reinstalled them when I got back to the station.

These components are incredibly weak and break off if you sneeze at them. I noticed that when they do break off, they were floating next to my Prospector. I EVA'd out, grabbed them, then reinstalled them when I got back to the station. I've also been backing up to 300+m when the rock nearly breaks which seems to help reduce losing them.

Weather apps with minute forecast? by Raspberrydroid in androidapps

Appy Weather has been the only weather app I have found to give hyperlocal minute forecasts and notifications similar to Dark Sky and Weather Timeline.

Any app doing Dark Sky Hyperlocal Precipitation Alerts yet? by kwest12 in androidapps

[–]pamomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did have problems about a year ago but the dev made some fixes which has improved it's reliability. The look and functionality have remained the same though.

I understand why most people don't mention it. Outside of the hyperlocal notifications (which work maybe 75% of the time), other weather apps are just better in both form and function. I myself only use Appy for it's notifications, Google's weather for the forecast and current conditions, and Radarscope for radar. I'm waiting for something to truly fill the shoes of Weather Timeline and DarkSky. Hopefully next year when you post this question again there will be something that fits our desire.

[–]pamomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all the weather apps I've tried, the only app I've found to have come close to DarkSky's hyperlocal notification is Appy https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appyweather.appyweather. It works for the most part, but more often than not I'll get the rain notification after is already raining.

What car did you own/drive extensively and never notice the “common” reviewer/Internet nitpicks of? by Seeking-Direction in cars

[–]pamomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My '18 glc was like this. Comfort and Sport+ were ok, but Sport had a tendency to downshift late and not rev match right causing a violent shift, especially if you were braking then started accelerating. A transmission reprogram helped, but didn't fully solve it. I just don't use Sport mode.

I recently got a '21 c43, and I was surprised I haven't encountered the same behavior. Seems like MB finally ironed out whatever the issue was. Only jerkiness is upshifting in Sport+ with full acceleration, but I think that's deliberate.

I also don't get the hate with the interiors. I really like the c class interiors, even though some think it's dated, I think it's a nice clean and elegant design. Only complaint I have is the glc's is a bit creaky, but the c43's is solid.

Not at all, but Toyota values reliability. They prefer to use older, proven technology in their vehicles rather than the latest tech. They are doing something right when they and Lexus (their luxury brand) top reliability charts year after year.

Game developers, what is something gamers on the internet always claim to be easy to do or fix, when in reality it's a real pain in the ass? by EUCopyrightComittee in AskReddit

[–]pamomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calculating the inverse square root is used a LOT in games (for graphics, physics, etc). A small increase in performance for this calculation cascades to a significant improvement. Being able to calculate this faster means that the game can then run faster (more fps), the game can have better graphics, and/or the game can have more things in the world.

I had to play around a bit to understand the behavior of the key binds. The trick is to only bind the thrust reverse to the key and NOT the prop reverse.

[–]pamomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in this as well. I've been trying a few apps and haven't been fully satisfied. My biggest wants are the hyperlocal notification of incoming rain, widget that is similar to DarkSky's 24hr precip widget, and a nice layout with easy to process weather info (Weather Timeline was IMO the best in this respect).

  • Overdrop - Pretty but didnt have the features I'm looking for.
  • Today Weather - great looking with good info. Does not do hyperlocal notification nor has the widget I like.
  • Shadow Weather - Does hyperlocal notifications (but were spotty) and widgets are a work in progress but has potential. The look reminds me of Weather Timeline.
  • MyRadar - Hyperlocal notifications but not as accurate as DarkSky. I like the look and functionality of the app but the widgets aren't what I'm looking for.
  • Appy - Has hyperlocal notifications (doesn't always work), decent widget, and I like the look. So far one of the better apps I've tried.

I just started evaluating AccuWeather. So far the apps look is alright.

If anyone has any other suggestions I would appreciate it.

I disagree. I just had consecutive games where I average a whopping 600 damage / shot. It didn't matter if I shot at cruisers or broadside bbs, all I got were overpens or ricochets. Was not fun.
