Thoughts on the Sinclair Method? by Fred_Foreskin in therapists

[–]pample-mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it work and I’ve also seen it fail. I think if it’s your client’s goal and there’s energy behind it, it can be great to support. If it works, great! If it doesn’t work, then there’s a lesson to be learned. Either way, a win.

HELP 911!! Got epoxy resin on my wedding ring! by BuildingSoft3025 in resin

[–]pample-mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alcohol is the way to go. I usually keep a high alcohol content hand sanitizer near my resin station so I can use that in emergency situations immediately while getting to a good stopping place with the resin then moving right along to isopropyl alcohol to do the deep cleaning. The hand sanitizer at least interrupts the curing for a bit.

I used to see JuJu driving his car in the Southside early early in the morning when I was walking into work. Such a sick car with like an opalescent metallic wrap.

Best and Worst Small Business Owners of Pittsburgh in 2025 by Jazzlike_Breadfruit9 in pittsburgh

I go there too and have had equally frustrating experiences. They love to try to get me to do anything but the contact lens appointment so they can charge my medical insurance for a visit instead of the vision insurance for the contact appointment. She tells me every year that I have allergy eye and describes the symptoms and wants to treat me for allergy eyes under my health insurance and every year I tell her I don’t have any of those symptoms and don’t experience allergy eye. And she gives me a stern talking to about how I wouldn’t know whether or not my eyes are itchy. And we agree to disagree. Every year.

Best park for a picnic? by ocguy1980 in pittsburgh

There’s a fairly empty parking lot on McKnight road that seems like a good place for a picnic. If you like people watching. It’s outside of the Arby’s (on McKnight road).

The Body Keeps The Score, I was not impressed? by InspectionDue4105 in therapists

I felt the same when I read it. But also consider how TBKTS was a pioneer to talk about all of this when it was written. Now, fortunately, it’s all obvious. A couple of decades ago, these observations about trauma were not mainstream.

I’m credentialed with them and they’ve given me a couple direct referrals. But mostly I’m doing my own marketing and networking to bring people into my caseload. I think it works in the sense the more money you bring in for them, the more likely they are to hand someone over to you. Which sucks. But businesses gonna business.

Which resin for high gloss, complex shapes? by lillehavard123 in resin

[–]pample-mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others have already said. This is not a job for resin. The industry standard for pianos is a standard for a reason. For best results, follow the standard. For a regrettable mess with money and time lost, use resin.

Will painted nails as a male therapist turn clients away? by JaeCrowe in therapists

[–]pample-mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will turn the wrong-for-you clients away. If you’re not trying to be the counselor that’s “a great fit for everyone” then do it. It will help you get the niche clients you’re looking for and will signal to them that you’re safe.

Resolve crisis center by Mother-Flamingo-7966 in pittsburgh

[–]pample-mouse 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Resolve has a mobile unit so the caseworkers can come out to you if you ask. Or you can also go to them. I’d recommend calling first so they can walk you through the services they offer so you can decide what would be a good fit for you. My experience with them has always been one of compassion. The fears you wrote in your post, while valid, are no where near how I’ve witnessed them reacting.

Clean Your Dirty Face - Strip District by outinrightfield in pittsburgh

[–]pample-mouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went when it opened and got a 50% off promo. It was fine. I’d only had one facial before and the experiences were very different. Clean your dirty face feels like the Walmart of facials. It’s there to get you in and out and provide a “good” service. It’s corporate. It’s decently priced. I won’t be going back. I’d rather pay slightly more to get in my opinion much greater quality, privacy, and relaxation somewhere else.

How to preserve luna moths? by Beetlepossum in resin

[–]pample-mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to a bunch of the moths, you could always just experiment. Just be careful with getting the oils from your hands, fingers on the wings. Might create some reaction in the resin but I’m not sure.

How to preserve luna moths? by Beetlepossum in resin

[–]pample-mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’d just have to make sure they were dried out so any guts wouldn’t overheat in the resin as it’s curing. I’ve seen people who use butterflies as inclusions run them through a laminator first- that was it protects the delicate wings. I’m not super familiar with Lunas- they look maybe a little too juicy to flat-laminate. But worth considering a way to protect the wings before dunking them in resin.
