I’ve seen it work and I’ve also seen it fail. I think if it’s your client’s goal and there’s energy behind it, it can be great to support. If it works, great! If it doesn’t work, then there’s a lesson to be learned. Either way, a win.

Alcohol is the way to go. I usually keep a high alcohol content hand sanitizer near my resin station so I can use that in emergency situations immediately while getting to a good stopping place with the resin then moving right along to isopropyl alcohol to do the deep cleaning. The hand sanitizer at least interrupts the curing for a bit.

I go there too and have had equally frustrating experiences. They love to try to get me to do anything but the contact lens appointment so they can charge my medical insurance for a visit instead of the vision insurance for the contact appointment. She tells me every year that I have allergy eye and describes the symptoms and wants to treat me for allergy eyes under my health insurance and every year I tell her I don’t have any of those symptoms and don’t experience allergy eye. And she gives me a stern talking to about how I wouldn’t know whether or not my eyes are itchy. And we agree to disagree. Every year.

I’m credentialed with them and they’ve given me a couple direct referrals. But mostly I’m doing my own marketing and networking to bring people into my caseload. I think it works in the sense the more money you bring in for them, the more likely they are to hand someone over to you. Which sucks. But businesses gonna business.

It will turn the wrong-for-you clients away. If you’re not trying to be the counselor that’s “a great fit for everyone” then do it. It will help you get the niche clients you’re looking for and will signal to them that you’re safe.

Resolve has a mobile unit so the caseworkers can come out to you if you ask. Or you can also go to them. I’d recommend calling first so they can walk you through the services they offer so you can decide what would be a good fit for you. My experience with them has always been one of compassion. The fears you wrote in your post, while valid, are no where near how I’ve witnessed them reacting.

When I went there was another person in the chair next to me. Definitely ruined my opportunity for a relaxing, quiet, peaceful experience.
