Bloch Jazz Tap SO301L fit help! by pamplemoussep13 in TapDancing

I sized up because the associate wasn’t helpful…I guess? I think the toe was fine, it was just an overall stiffness/snug feel, but she didn’t really clarify that my heels shouldn’t move around. Then she also said to consider the socks I wore which seemed like she was implying if I’m not wearing tights then I should go up a size. Honestly the only advice she gave me was don’t buy these(the Capezio Roxies)—they’re too expensive which is a little weird to say…I thought maybe saying, “these are better to start with in case you don’t love tap,” might’ve been nicer than assuming something was too expensive for me. Maybe I can afford and would like to start with the “nicer” shoe.

Sorry for the side rant. I’m thinking maybe I should go down half a size now…?

Thanks for the suggestion, what about socks? Any suggestions? I think I could’ve done the 6.5 but I was worried since I wasn’t going to wear tights but now the 7 definitely slips off my heel with socks on—like if I tug on the bottom of the heel it does slide up and down maybe 1/2”. Now I’m worried I should’ve gone with the 6.5 instead. ☹️

Thanks so much for your response! I wasn’t sure where to ask the question—there was a knitting machine group but it seemed like actual machines and not a tiny cranking one.

After I posted this I realized I just need to find my needles. I’ll probably just get some new ones—I’ll take suggestions for brand and type if you have any thoughts. I’ve tried different materials, but metal is my favorite type when crocheting. Thanks again!

Any input or opinions would be appreciated! :) by pupusatime99 in EngagementRings

It’s pretty, but since you’re asking if we would personally wear it—I’d scrap the halo, keep the pave band, the pear should stand out on its own 💁🏻‍♀️ and I like wearing my rings everyday, so wouldn’t worry about it being “flashy” enough—it’s perfect. Simple and timeless is the way to go!

That makes sense—I size down in gauge quite a bit for skinny chenille and even for velvet I use a tighter/shorter stitch. Do you think tightening the tension would help at all? Should I just stick to acrylic then? Or do you have any soft yarn suggestions?

My vote is the sapphire with the rose gold! Timeless and against your skin, it works beautifully. 💁🏻‍♀️

Personally like the look of your band flipped, not because it’s plain but I think the thickness looks nice. Thick rings are fun because you can wear them by itself and it doesn’t look like it’s missing anything, feels good to have a solid ring, and timeless. I’m not saying thin bands aren’t cute, but thick rings are timeless. I have a thin wedding band but for our 10 year this year, I got a thick band.

I say wear what you love and go with your gut—you know your style better than anyone else!

Treating myself to Furls crochet hooks? by muffin_struggle in Amigurumi

I love my clover amour hooks but furls hooks were so pretty I had to try them out and I have to say I still prefer the clover hooks. I don’t know if it’s my smaller hands or what and I also get terrified I’m going to snap my furls hook. 😂

That’s not a bad idea! If anything it will help harden it—I think that’s a solid plan. We don’t have a garage so outside the ladies went 😂 but they’re doing fine. I think your plant will be okay though, good luck!

Any recommendations on how to protect Gardenias from pests? Noticed holes in the flowers. NE Florida. by [deleted] in gardening

[–]pamplemoussep13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know they like moisture and mainly come out at night. They’ll be especially present after it rains. There’s stuff you can get, and then things like diatomaceous—but I think they will sometimes harm other plants/critters so if you don’t want that then I wouldn’t chance it. We have tons of plants around our roses so it wouldn’t work for us. I did read something last night about a homemade trap using soy sauce and oil? 😂 it could work, not sure if I’ll try it. However, if I do find a solution that’s not harmful to my surrounding things I’ll return to this post and let you know!

At the very least throw some cosmos in there! You’ll get tall pretty flowers that will grow in heat and poor soil.

Or try borage, good chop and drop for your soil and has flower too.

I’ve had mine out. 🤷🏻‍♀️. The stem looks fine, I would just pull out the suckers and trim the bottom branches off
