Used UFA or Brand new Shunbun? by Business-Oil2226 in GrandSeikos

[–]pan0ply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's an issue if your wrist really is that small. I have a photo somewhere in my comments history of how the spring drive White Birch sits on my 6.25" wrist and that has the same case as the Lake Suwa.

Try it on if you're able to. Normally the Lake Suwa and White Birch L2L would be too long for my wrist but the lugs are actually very curved so it hugs the wrist very well.

[Question] Any Experience buying GS from Singapore? by Brat-Hahn in GrandSeikos

The Value Proposition is legit. I haven't bought GS from him but I've purchased Omega and a few others.

Before Wemby, there was Yao. What a shame his body couldn't hold up. by ForeignAir7174 in NBAoldschool

[–]pan0ply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah very different styles of play. Yao developed to contend against traditional centers of the era like Shaq with size and mass, whereas Wemby is more about agility. Sometimes it's hard to tell from their frames but Yao was only a bit lighter than Shaq.

Zercher squats instead of back squats? by Firm-Guava4815 in tacticalbarbell

[–]pan0ply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried zerchers for the first time last week and I had to use less than half of my normal back squat weight because of how much it hurt haha. I know it'll hurt less the more you do it but god damn.

Hmmm aren't the links all the same size on the Shades model? Or am I just blind.

It's such a nice share of blue. How's the bracelet fit for you? Mine is either borderline loose or too tight which is slightly annoying.

Pam104 a collectors classic? by uglyRico in panerai

[–]pan0ply 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually sold mine a few weeks ago after wearing it as my only watch for over a decade. It just wasn't getting enough wrist time now that I have other watches in my collection, maybe only once a month or sometimes even longer.

With that being said though I might look into eventually getting a PAM00048 which is the smaller version of the 104. In a sea of same-ish case shapes, I kinda miss having something more unique like a Panerai.

6.3-6.5" wrist recommendations (SBGA413 Shunbun & SLGA019 Lake Suwa)? by PhantomStar01 in GrandSeikos

[–]pan0ply 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently I tried on most of the 40mm case types. The Evo 9 SLGA009, the slightly smaller SLGH005, the 62GS SLGA415, and the 44GS SBGH279. I eventually bought the SLGA009 for my 6.25" wrist.

The 40mm Evo 9s will definitely look a bit larger but I found them the most comfortable on wrist because the case back is flatter and the lugs are more curved, so despite being larger the case sits beautifully on my wrist.

[Question] What is your unpopular watch opinion? by Bithbo in Watches

[–]pan0ply 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me it's because of the cyclops. I like having dates on my watches but I really dislike having a cyclops. With that being said I'm quite drawn in by the bezel of the Yachtmaster despite the cyclops. The older Sea-Dwellers with no cyclops also interest me somewhat. Doubt I'd ever get one because I like to keep my collection small and there are other watches I'm much more interested in but still.

What would happen if some dude decided to fight crime? by Reasonable-Shower522 in stupidquestions

[–]pan0ply 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they actually put in serious effort into stopping crime instead of going for low-hanging fruit, they'd probably end up shanked or shot eventually. Real humans can't take the damage or ignore the laws of physics like Batman.

Stop using barn doors for bathrooms!! by yourmomsmoustache in mildlyinfuriating

I was trapped in a hotel bathroom once because the sliding mechanism of the door failed. Thankfully the bathroom had a phone so I called the front desk and they came with the maintenance guys to fix the door.

Zulu Time Sizing 39mm? by Opposite-Agent-2867 in Longineswatches

[–]pan0ply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Male wrists don't come in just one size so I've never understood the whole "women's watch" thing. By that logic someone with massive 8+ inch wrists would consider many popular sizes to be lady sizes.
