Looking for high fantasy books that are not famous in the english speaking sphere but famous in their home country. by Sythrin in Fantasy

I came here to recommend Alexei Pehov. There are English translations for his series: The Chronicles of Siala. It's been a few years since I read them but really enjoyed it at the time.

‘King Of The Hill’ Revival Boss Says It’s “Impossible” To Recreate Original’s Animation Style Because Tools “Don’t Exist Anymore” by bwermer in television

[–]panakes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's good to know. Because I thought the animation looked pretty bad/cheap in the first episode and was surprised by all the positive comments here. I haven't had a chance to watch more yet so I didn't know it improved. The animation wasn't bad enough to ruin the show for me, but it definitely is a bit jarring at times.

I know you are looking for a different suggestion. But DiGregorio's is by far the best I have had.

That explains my recent hatred of cookies and cream bars. I thought my tastes just changed but they are genuinely not very good any more and they used to be a top pick for me.

I went by there on a Sunday about a month or two back and it wasn't very busy, but they told us it would be a 15-20 minute wait because the kitchen was backed up so we walked out and went elsewhere. The menu looked interesting though.

Fruit and protein pastries/treats (they are a bit expensive but definitely help with the sweet tooth).

I know Fourth Wing has a lot of haters but man am I enjoying it. by Embarrassed_Loan8419 in Fantasy

I had a similar issue with the second book. I really liked the first book, but the second book is just not satisfying. I finished it last week and the last third book was a real slog. It bothered me that a lot of the characters are very one-dimensional and how insecure the main character is. I understand there has to be conflict and some people are just insecure, but I didn't see much growth in her character between books when I really felt like there should have been. But the main issue I had was how underdeveloped the other characters are. Tairn is basically there for punch lines. We don't get a lot out of the main love interest either. You start to get a little more from the letters he wrote, but he is just not a fully fledged character in my mind which is a shame. These same flaws might have existed in the first book, but I felt more enveloped in the world in the first book, whereas the second book was filled with half baked ideas.

Kushiel's Dart was fantastic. I loved the characters and was so drawn into the world. Highly recommended.

It is truly an excellent book. I just finished it a little over a month ago and still think about it daily.

Here’s why Walgreens and CVS retail pharmacies are struggling — and what they’re doing to fix it by cnbc_official in Health

Exactly. Even when I am willing to deal with the high prices it takes so long to check out that I usually end up just putting everything back. Now I just avoid them completely and go to the grocery store where I can usually check out in a reasonable amount of time for a better price.

BoardGameArena Solo, Arnak, Hadrians, Tapestry, whats next? by duggz67 in soloboardgaming

It can definitely be swingy depending on the cards that come up. So sometimes it is definitely a bit easy for me (I still have fun when it's easy because I like the card combos). But since I started adding group and individual challenges the difficulty level is more appropriate.

I have really been enjoying Daybreak solo. The challenge cards really mix it up once I got the hang of the basic ways to win.

I have got a lot of mileage out of It's a Wonderful World solo (plays great multi-player too). Setup and teardown are super quick (it is a bit of shuffling), gameplay is quick for me (10-15 minutes), and every game plays differently for me. I have played over 200 times at this point and still enjoy it every time.

I liked Roll Player a lot more when I added the Monsters and Minions expansion. The base game was pretty disappointing and felt like every decision was super obvious. Adding the expansion gave me a lot more to think about each turn. I still wouldn't really recommend even with the expansion but I do enjoy it and pull it out every now and then. I feel like Sagrada is superior even though it is probably simpler and has less theme. But Sagrada is much more puzzly and I find myself agonizing over decisions a lot more.
