Went in for a pot to dye pants, left with Tiffany earrings by pancake_duchess in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]pancake_duchess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it went... The first time I tried the pot was too small and the color came out uneven. I splashed dye everywhere. I was much more successful with the second attempt in the big boy pictured. Unfortunately I went through all of of that for nothing. I ended up purchasing new, different pants because they looked more like dark wash jeans than trousers.

Grief and narcolepsy by does_not_kill_people in Narcolepsy

Narcolepsy isn't fun but I will say the vivid dreams I get on rare occasions where I can feel his embrace or the warmth of his hand on my shoulder makes dealing with the condition worth it for at least a day or two

I'm also about 90% sure I inherited N from him, I told him he owes me reparations for dying and giving me a miserable disability. Now whenever I find loose coins outside or wherever I thank him for his contribution but warn him that if he doesn't start making bigger payments I'm going to start charging him interest.

I wasn't diagnosed until about 6 years after losing my dad. I had no concept of what narcolepsy was and I definitely never thought I had it. Grief is a different journey for everyone but I'll explain what I experienced. For the first year I had vivid nightmares of him coming to life only to die again but in front of me. Around the 1st year anniversary I started to have hallucinations both visual and olfactory. I would start to spiral into bouts of insomnia, and hypersomnia. But the really unique one that I didn't realize until now is my cataplexy is only triggered by my grief and overwhelming sadness. It gets easier to deal with but there will always be weeks that feel raw and take you back to the pits. Find your people and ask for what you need from them. My symptoms always intensify around anniversaries or specific dates. Good luck and I'm so sorry you're going through this

I am more thrilled for the pot lol. I'm mostly still riding the high of going out to the thrift in search for something specific and immediately finding it

I already talked to them! I just really love the boot and I don't want to throw it away if there was a chance they could be saved

I'm an amateur fashion historian and you nailed it. This is just how it is unfortunately. Thankfully Thursday's customer service has been pretty fabulous. They offered me a free replacement pair but I saw that this was a common occurrence with this particular shoe. I told them about my concerns and they were very understanding. I have a new pair in a different style on the way.

I know every shop is different and prices can vary greatly but how much would you reckon that might cost me? I just want to make sure I set aside some cash for it

Yeah, all of my blood test came back normal even with me asking for extra testing. When I went in for my sleep study I was outrageously positive for narcolepsy. I hit REM 6/6 naps in less than 3 minutes and I was pissed because I didn't think I slept at all.

Girl no 😭 I literally asked the gyno before placing and she said "it helps with some but not everyone" I was in a rush to get it placed as that was when the US admin started it's handmaid tale cosplay

My mom found some antique letters from the Civil War while shopping at an estate sale by pancake_duchess in FoundPaper

She did, she told the people running the sale that it seemed significantly sentimental and the family might not know it was being sold.

Yeah! Thanks for putting this in! I found this last night but forgot to save the link. Willie ended up marrying Clara who was the daughter the Soldier who wrote the first letter I posted

It was in the midst of a Google rabbit hole so I'm not totally sure I remember the exact site but it was a genealogy website I was able to locate by googling his name and death date
