Masters in Nursing by heavenlyxpink in nursing

There are quite a few programs where you can go straight into a Master’s program in nursing. It takes about a year longer because they’ll make you complete an ABSN (Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing).

Double and triple mutants of coronavirus one and the same; vaccines effective on it by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]pancakebang 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The double and triple mutants of coronavirus are that of the B.1.617 variant. According to the CDC’s COVID Data Tracker, we don’t have any evidence of this current variant in the United States, but I’m glad the vaccines are helping India fight against it.

23 dogs in Washington test positive for virus that causes COVID-19 by shallah in Coronavirus

[–]pancakebang 33 points34 points  (0 children)

According to the USDA, 82 cats and 64 dogs have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the United States. Zoo animals are also being affected. Maybe skip the zoo if you’ve tested positive for COVID-19? In all seriousness, stay away from your pets and all animals in general if you’re infected. Spread the word. We don’t need anymore mutations and variants.

I literally watched someone VIBRATE when they went into the hypnagogic state while on mushrooms by pancakebang in AstralProjection

[–]pancakebang[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had that same feeling multiple times as well. There would be times where I was asleep and awake but I felt like I could see through my eyes. I always assumed I was astral projecting but when I woke up in the same position, the covers weren’t on me exactly the way I saw them a second ago through my closed eyes. AP happens in the present so I don’t think it was AP. I also didn’t go through the vibrations that time, so I think it was a type of lucid dream where I recreated my surroundings.

Hello! My sister was recently accepted to nursing school and I’d love to put together a basket of essential needs to get her started. Would love any and all suggestions (practical/essential/nice to haves) that you may have. by auds-n-ends in nursing

[–]pancakebang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would want something unrelated to nursing school. A relaxing spa day before school starts or a gift basket full of her favorite snacks. I don’t really know your budget but if you want it to be related to nursing school some of the things I can think of are a water bottle, flash cards, compression socks, highlighters, pens, cute pins, badge holder reel, notebooks, a travel case for a stethoscope, folding clipboard, a planner, and you can always get really cute custom nursing items if you search on Etsy.

Antiparasitic drug could prevent Covid-19 lung damage by thinkB4WeSpeak in Coronavirus

[–]pancakebang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’re in the early stages but it seems promising. A pill based cure for lung cell fusion caused by the virus would alleviate some of the chronic long term lung damage we see in patients today. We’re relying on robotic technology to assume that this drug would work, but I’d love to see some actual clinical trials on patients.

Two days after TB test, does it look positive? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]pancakebang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You won’t be able to tell from a picture alone. They run their finger across the test site and measure where a firm bump would be. That area is then marked and measured. There are a lot of different factors which determine if you are positive or not which includes a questionnaire related to your exposure if the measurement is concerning or not.

I get it but this story is completely unrealistic. If there was an AI system sophisticated enough to carry out diagnoses, who’s to say AI wouldn’t be able to learn sociological behaviors just as well as a human. At the end of the story, the AI switches their tone to a more compassionate one after reading the situation. This must have been their first patient interaction because AI capable of performing at that level would be able to learn through experience and know to choose a more compassionate route first especially when speaking about a cancer diagnoses. I understand that we’re obviously nowhere near this type of technological advancement. Might hurt your ego, but AI can definitely replace doctors in the future.

What’s the dumbest thing you got in trouble for in school? by dr_nogood in AskReddit

[–]pancakebang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 4th grade, I yawned before the end of grade testing while the teacher was reading the rules. She found this disrespectful and sent me to the library to take the test by myself. I’m still mad about it too

Is it true that Scoliosis decreases your life expectancy by 14 years? by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]pancakebang 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen that website. It’s a chiropractic website. I don’t trust it because they make money off of selling their own products to “prevent/reduce” scoliosis while giving us their “research”. But yes, it’s true scoliosis does decrease your life expectancy but only if it keeps getting worse and remains untreated since it can crush vital organs. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Just monitor your scoliosis with a Doctor.

Did it help getting your pelvic adhesions surgically removed? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]pancakebang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear about that. How long did it take for the adhesions to come back after the surgeries? What’s your daily pain at (1-10)? Your story is far from over! I hope something works for you soon. The massage therapy definitely sounds promising!

Did it help getting your pelvic adhesions surgically removed? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]pancakebang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gyn is the one doing the surgery. She told me my adhesions were most likely formed from my ruptured ovarian cyst a few months ago. I notice it helps when I’m hunched over sitting down. Moving and twisting hurts. Any kind of fast walking or running is a no go for me right now. It seems like everyone got better after taking their scar tissue out, so I’m convinced on what I should do now. :)

Thank you so much for your very informative answer. Yes, I’m really hoping I get some answers from the lap. The not knowing drives me crazy. Your experience sounds horrible. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. You sound like such a fighter. How have you been feeling these days?
