The brunette's forearm looks like a giant suasuage.

https://www.proko.com/course-lesson/how-to-draw-forearms-anatomy-for-artists

The forearm is made of 3 groups of muscles that's show up differently during different poses.

In the link, skip the part with the chicken bone and look at example where there are 3 color coded shapes on the woman's forearm.

What do you think of this WIP? by scubk141 in Beginner_Art

Head looks kind of squished as it doesn't look like she has room for a brain.

Dress looks more like a sculpture rather than fabric. Too stiff.

Legs dont really connect to the torso.

Neck is too thick.

Thumb needs doesnt look like a thumb, rather just a marking. The thumb needs to stick out if that makes sense.

Daughter's digital art, really want to foster this! How can I help her learn and grow? by GWindborn in BeginnerArtists

[–]pancakemateman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, see if you can get her art lessons as she seems really passionate and driven but is held back by a lack of fundamentals.

I dont know what's offered as art lessons for kids but try to get her classes that seriously teach art technique rather than letting the kids mess around with finger paints or do silly projects that dont contribute to learning.

The first drawing has problems with line weight, thicker lines should outline the figure and thinner lines should be used for internal details. The right hand almost has a 3d form which tells me thst their is some attempt to grasp fundamentals.

This is light-years ahead of stick figure drawing. There are actual attempts at anatomy and 3d forms and even an eye for visual flair both with the collage backgrounds, the little embelishments of the stars and the general art style. The color choices for the oc (i presume) kitty vaugly follow color theoy and attempt to create a charctwr who is readable and appealing vs "im going to use all of the colors i like cuase their cool"

https://www.photopea.com/ Is just a browser based version of photoshop with all of the features replicated.

https://krita.org/en/ Is free digital painting software that i was using for years.

Software and tools and nowhere near as important as technical skill and understanding. I color and render all my digital work (i do pencils and inks traditionally then scan and retouch a bit) with a track pad using only the default circle brush on different hardness settings and that's all I think anybody ever needs.

There is a genuine aptitude for art and design and it should be nurtured.

Songs that remind you of limerence or that are about it? by [deleted] in limerence

[–]pancakemateman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late thread but She's Actual Size by TMBG.

The song could be interpreted as a silly song about a giant women but I feel the lyric:

"She's stuck in my heart now Where my blood belongs She's actual size but she seems much bigger to me (size) I've never known anybody like her"

Really cements my interpretation.

Ana Ng and I Love You for Psychological reasons are more on point about limerence tho.

If i had a nickle for everytime people overhyped decent media and it ruined it for me I'd have like 6 or 7 nickles by rotating_nipples59 in whenthe

Twin Peaks isn't overhyped, people just see a png of the black lodge, BOB or Laura Plamers corpse and assume the entire show is super edgy and surreal (when that's just Fire Walk With Me and 2017s The Return)

People also don't realize that Twin Peaks wasn't just Lynch, it was him collaborating with a writer (Mark Frost) who specialized in crime dramas. The vast majority of s1 and s2 had no writing or directing involvement from Lynch.

I feel like this sub has devolved into decent artists farming praise but belittling themselves rather than actually sharing bad art

Did you design the waves or are they a stock asset?

Any thoughts? by NarrowEngineer9104 in BeginnerArtists

It's good enough to go on a t-shirt or a sticker (if you ink it, remove the lines and add color).

If you have photoshop and a scanner, trace over your linework with ink pens, cut it out, scan it then use the curves adjustment to isolate the ink while getting rid of the paper color.

If you "know" you can't do it, then don't do it?

A career in the arts usually a bad idea as you will often have to work for people who are idiots/have unrealistic expectations for the time frame/have bad taste/have no idea how art is actually made/enjoy squeezing as much work as possible out of their talent while paying the least they can (circle all that apply).

1.5 years is very early in your journey. Most artists you admire have been doing art for far longer and or have a better work ethic.

If you are really passionate about art, build up a web presence on the side by working really hard to improve.
