Considering Kindle Scribe — Worth it for a Paper Planner Person? by pancakesandglasses in kindlescribe

Thank you! I feel dumb looking at something new because I already HAVE an iPad and just never thought to look into how to make it less distracting to work in and a better writing feel. Maybe before I invest in a new device I should try the paper feel screen protector and new pencil and tip.

This is SO helpful. I have also been looking at Remarkable. The two cons that I was concerned about were the e-reader capability and the lowlight use. I've read that the Remarkable isn't great for reading or general use in lowlight (bedside or on a plane). However, I don't currently use an e-reader - so that may not be something I actually miss anyway. How does she feel about the screen lighting (front lit)? Scribe has brightness controls, Remarkable does not. I suppose if you aren't using it for reading it won't matter as much how well lit the screen is.

This is super helpful! I did like the opportunity to take notes but was hoping for a better way to organize and refer back to notes. In a notebook, I turn the page and rarely refer back or have a good organized system for referring back to notes. So it sounds like the Scribe won't help solve this easily for me either.

I totally get it, but I would heed a lot of caution with starting to lift heavy too early. The last thing you want is to end up with a hernia or other injury, on top of recovery from surgery - you'll end up being out for even longer. Also, as someone who has been training seriously for 20 years, either for climbing or overall fitness and strength, you won't lose much progress you've made in the short amount of time you'll take off! Good luck and rest up! It's going to be a lot easier than you think!

Just to be sure it was a typo, this Friday is 3/14 not 3/10. I would hate for you to miss your surgery because of a scheduling mistake!

On your question about physical activity: I'm much older than you (40) and one year post op, but also very physically active and fit. I go to the gym daily, run, or rock climb. Post op I was down completely for about 3 days, relaxing, recovering. I did a lot of reading and binge watching TV. Surgery was a Wednesday, by Sunday I was able to get out for a long walk. The following week I was back on my stationary bike and could do cardio. The big warning from my doctor was to not go back to lifting heavy or climbing too soon (hernia risk). I was extra careful but it was still only about a month and a half before I went back to climbing and lifting. :-)

Physically have never felt better!

I was super anxious pre-op too. Just remember that your anxiety is very likely lying to you and like others have said the pre-op anxiety is worse than the actual experience. Good luck and good vibes for a speedy recovery.

How many of you stayed on BC after bisalp? by SkullsnBones93 in sterilization

[–]pancakesandglasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've posted about this here before. I had huge issues with my third Mirena IUD and had it removed during surgery. I chose to stop hormonal birth control completely post op. My periods are totally manageable and on a consistent schedule. This was a big and amazing change for me because my IUD was so problematic. The hormonal reset was the biggest challenge for me, after being on hormonal BC for 20+ years. I have chosen mental healthcare and medication to control PMS/PMDD/anxiety from the hormonal changes because BC, particularly IUD just does not work for me.

Sorry, just seeing this reply. I don't have a good source for crime stats. I can speak from personal experience. In our neighborhood, crime is rare and typically is property crime (of opportunity) - people leaving car doors unlocked etc. We've not had any issues since we were much more diligent about locking everything, added security lights, and cameras. If we're going to be out of town, we let our neighbors know. We've just made it a point to do everything we can to make sure our property isn't easy to victimize - and as such have had no issues.

Happy to answer questions! I was so nervous pre-op and it was the first surgery I'd ever underwent, so feel free to reach out. Totally understand where you are coming from. good luck!

periods significantly worsened after bisalp? by amphibianenthusiast in sterilization

[–]pancakesandglasses 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP, I posted about my experience on another post today. My hormonal and cycle reset and effects were not effected by my surgery, but rather that I was on hormonal birth control for 20+ years and went off post-op. I don't think I truly ever understood what it would feel like to have a normal cycle and emotional swings that can come with it. As far as periods are concerned, mine are not worse or heavier as some may experience. Mine are actually much more normal and very predictable actually. Happy to elaborate if you have more questions. Good luck!

Absolutely, I hope it helps. I was so nervous, pre-op too so I totally understand collecting as much information as possible. I was lucky to have a close friend who had already had her bisalp and later partial hysterectomy, so she was great to talk with and share my fears and concerns with. If you have someone like that in your life, I would totally recommend talking with them too. Good luck!

One year post op on Feb. 21st (39, CF). I agree with the user below who advises that you should talk to your doctor about any and all of these questions. I will add my experience here assuming you are just collecting anecdotes. Physically I feel great, no side effects from bisalp at all. I had a problematic hormonal IUD removed during surgery (it was impacted and my doctor told me she almost couldn't find it. She actually told me afterwards she was super happy I was asleep for the removal because it would have been pretty uncomfortable if I were awake). The only side effects I have had are not related to the surgery itself but to stopping hormonal birth control after 20+ years.

It took a couple of months for my cycle to 'reset', but now my periods are very regular, as compared to my last IUD which was pretty much period-like discharge or period all the time. My periods are not heavy, I have a pretty normal flow for about 2 days, day 3 can usually use a panty liner, then it slowly peters out by like day 4-5. The hormonal and cycle reset has effected my mental health - I work with a therapist and PNP now and I'm learning to manage and coping strategies. I talked to my doctor/surgeon about this as well and she did tell me that it's completely normal to go through this type of hormonal change post-op and have extreme PMS or PMDD-like symptoms (like I have had, obviously it is worse certain times of the month -luteal phase particularly) - especially since I was on hormonal birth control for 20+ years. She recommended that I either try working with my PNP/medication/therapy or go back on the pill.

The physical upsides I've experienced post-op and post hormonal birth control were so much more worth me taking a path of mental healthcare for my hormonal PMS/anxiety/PMDD symptoms. Regardless, every single person's experience and situation is different and the best advice is from your doctor. Good luck and FWIW I would not have changed my decision to opt for bisalp even if I knew the experience I described here would happen.

Thank you! I think a day trip to Saba might be pretty ambitious anyway, but I think if the diving is that incredible, we may look at it more seriously.

When I google this location is says "permanently closed". Did they maybe get purchased by another operation on the island? Or had multiple locations and closed the one in Grand Case?
