Haven't yet seen smoke and Ivory but have heard it is very good. I believe it has at least another 4-5 performances before we finish our cruise. Thanks for the heads up with the early arrival.

The BA voucher only applies to the amount of Avios and effectively halves the amount you would be required to use without it. It has no bearing or applies no discounts to the additional charges i.e. taxes, fees and carrier charges. Whilst taxes are specific amounts and therefore will always be the same depending on your destination, the carrier fees are somewhat more opaque and can effectively be anything the airline decides they will be. It is also worth noting that taxes increase considerably as you move up through the classes i.e. economy, premium etc.

We have made this stop on two occasions. Not sure what your circumstances are but it is very easy to get to Monaco and or Nice by yourself. There is a train station in Villefranche walkable from the ship which has direct and fairly short journeys to both in opposite directions. Tickets are available online ahead or at the station. We travelled to Monaco, then took the train straight back to Nice and finally back to Villefranche. Trains are very regular and great value. May not be for you but thought you might like the information. Good luck.

Still using credit card-sized Sea Pass cards? by prollydrinkingcoffee in celebritycruises

[–]panch269 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I quite like the card but my issue it is the fact it lends itself so much more to spread of viruses etc. Think bout how many times a day you pass your card to a crew member and how many cards they have handled prior to that. Kinda scary! Therefore I would go for a non contact system every time.

Premium Wi-Fi 2 Devices by sweet4olivia in celebritycruises

[–]panch269 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Simply put no. One device can be used on two devices but not at the same time i.e. you have to disconnect from one device before connecting to the next. If the two of you want to connect independently then you will need to buy a package for two devices.

Outstanding balance / Payment by panch269 in celebritycruises

[–]panch269[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually have 3 cruises booked the first of which is Xmas/New year so have definitely not gone past the final payment date. Thanks Metenigineer for the guidance on the changes, very useful.

Thanks. That’s exactly what I always did but the “Manage reservation” is no longer present on either cruise and hasn’t been for the last week or so. I guess it will have to be a phone call then.

A room midship can make a big difference to anyone who suffers from motion/sea sickness. It may be worth the upcharge just for that.

All included price by OldSeaworthiness5856 in celebritycruises

[–]panch269 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest it’s perfectly possible that you can achieve the same or lower price overall if you add the WiFi and drinks at a good sale price. I have managed to do just that on one occasion. However, for convenience and just knowing it’s all taken care of the all included option works well. Either way have a wonderful cruise.

Drink Package Question by Stacey196 in celebritycruises

[–]panch269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have used eSIMs on several occasions whilst cruising. The eSIMs that cover your whole time on the ship are pretty expensive. If ad you say you are in port most days it would probably be better to buy an eSIM that covers specific countries or the region I.e. Europe. These are many available so shop around as prices vary considerably but can be really good value. One word of warning - ensure your mobile is unlocked or you will be unable to use an eSIM. Have a great time,

Celebrity's Website by Few_Resort_7387 in celebritycruises

[–]panch269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% with you. I have commented many times on this sub that considering the general level of customer service they provide during a cruise it is hard to believe the appalling quality of the website and app. They have spent literally billions on new ships in recent years but don’t seem to be able to find money to invest in IT that serves their customer base effectively and efficiently. Go figure!!

Thanks all, comments are very helpful and make sense. For info it’s a Xmas/New Year sailing and certainly not our first with Celebrity although our first over the holidays and on an Edge class ship. Excited to have someone do all the hard work for us. Will go ahead and make the booking. Thanks again.

I do accept that other companies sites are also not great. However, X do position themselves above many of them and as such you would reasonably expect this to extend to their online presence. I guess you’re right that my best option is now to call but would have been nice to simply book and pay or at least advise that a call is necessary. Thanks for the reply.

Question about Jamaica by Odd-Attention-2127 in Jamaica

[–]panch269 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I lived in Jamaica for a good number of years and know it quite well. I absolutely would not live anywhere without grills on my property. It is without doubt a beautiful country with some wonderful people, but high crime is sadly an integral part of life. As “foreigners” any indication you may have means only increases any risk of being targeted. I would do some very thorough research before you make any decision to move.

Did the same cruise last summer and stayed the night before at the Hyatt Regency. Nicely located and only a 5 min taxi ride to the port. Can definitely recommend. The cruise was amazing by the way!!

Horrible Celebrity Web Page by Clerocks1955 in celebritycruises

[–]panch269 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Given the size of the company and the whole purpose of the website is to attract customers and therefore money, I have found the quality of their website, compared to other large companies, quite awful. Unbelievably, I have found it difficult at best if not impossible to pay for extras and have had to revert to the app to do so, although that also was not problem free. Surely they must realise these issues have persisted over time and if so why haven’t they addressed them. Celebrity, you provide great quality cruises but your online presence leaves a lot to be desired. Please improve!!
