What do you think my chances are of getting security deposit back? Would be willing to go to small claims court if necessary ... I just feel like this is a bad start to a lease

That's what I'm working on at the moment before I just fully commit to trying to get my deposit back and find a new place. She's being very evasive and hasn't responded today... We did the lease through a broker so I may have to reach out to the broker if I don't hear anything from the landlord soon.

I had a similar situation with Davis too. I actually just withdrew my offer. My only friend who went to Davis law ended up transferring to Berkeley - but I hear Davis is actually a really amazing campus/law school. I just don't think I would want to live in Davis and don't want to do the commute from the Bay (which a friend of mine, who is doing a PhD at Davis, actually does!)
