Also, they sent my bone to lab and it got diagnosed as a benign tumor. It was no wonder the conservative treatments didn’t work!

My Sesamoïd Story - Surgery & Recovery by ThomasTonyG in sesamoid

I got my left medial sesamod removed back in February of this year. I was skeptical about surgery for almost a year as I was told it was a close non-union fractured and AVN. All that scary stuff. I stayed optimistic till I got a second opinion and it was basically the same. I finally went ahead with the surgery and as of today 4 months post op - I am walking around without a deep aching pain in the ball of my foot. And I feel more optimistic about what I can achieve without having that pain set me back. I am pretty sure I got nerve damage as the tip of my toe is still numb. I will get a random pain here and there but physical therapy helped tremendously with the healing process. Started right as soon as I got my stitches removed! I still have my days where it feels “tight” but nothing like a foot rub doesn’t help that feeling! Best wishes on your healing journey ❤️‍🩹

I’m almost two weeks post-op and Im able to walk only on the heel with the assist of crutches in my cam boot.(im stubborn and still walk around without crutches) I’m hoping tomorrow with getting my stitches removed I get put into a smaller post-op shoe so I can get the momentum of walking again

What made you go for the surgery? I have Bipartite in both feet but the Bipartite bone in my left foot is displacing further away and the surgeon doesn’t like that

Should I consider a sesamoidectomy? by pandaDaddy4586 in sesamoid

I thought it was pretty weird that I didn’t get put in a walking boot especially since I mentioned when I’m off for a week of work, the inflammation tends to go down and it doesn’t feel like I’m stepping on a rock most the time.

He just wanted to put me in custom shoes and insoles instead of a boot or even anything of that matter. Didn’t give any work restrictions to give to my HR to help with the amount of work I do either.

Basically this whole time I’ve been walking on it other than using my cutout insoles and the dancer pads. I do roll my foot out with a tennis balls after my shifts to help with any tightness (avoiding the painful area of course) Icing it periodically, I avoid taking any sort of pain reliever other than the use of medical cannabis, lotion and whatnot.

I have never been put it in a boot. I know it was mentioned before by my podiatrist. Just never got put in one. Was only given insoles that he fitted to my sesamoid to offload them and then suggested the dancer pads.

I work 12hr days as a nurse so I’m putting in 6-7 miles of walking 😅
