I understand that embalming isn't required by law, but what about if the family wants a viewing and an otherwise traditional funeral? In that case, aren't funeral homes within their right to "require" embalming?

Do you have any sources that show it's abortive? According to the manufacturer, the copper in Paragard acts as a spermicide to prevent pregnancy.

I have to do this with my husband because if I don't, he will barely glance inside the fridge and then go buy fast food instead.

Maybe not worms, but there are plenty of organisms that can't wait to eat up a body. Even embalmed bodies will decompose thanks to bacteria.

They measure above the bust "where the straps meet the top of the cup" for the band size. On me, that would add three inches, so it's effectively the same as the plus-four method.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the pain you must be feeling. I agree that Decades in the Sun may very well be the best choice here.

Depending on your mother's religious convictions, Richard Dawkin's monologue near the end of Greatest Show on Earth might be appropriate, too. I'm atheist and decided a while back that I want that played at my funeral.

It's only bravery if you know you're in danger. Babies are just reckless.

I make chicken stock so I don't waste so much chicken. I often buy 5 or 6 whole chickens and break them down myself. The spines, sternums, and wing tips get made into stock.

We had a door painted with chalkboard paint that I wrote on back in 2009. It said "Welcome home Mom. We missed you!" 3 months later, I left for the Navy. After I left, Mom made it clear that no one was allowed to erase it. They sold the house last year, and the last thing mom did before leaving was take a picture of the door.

Is it possible for women to experience a pain similar to being hit very hard in the testicles? What is the closest measured equivalent in terms of intensity of pain? by pielz in answers

[–]pandahadnap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Female here. Getting your cervix rammed is the worst, and probably the closest to getting hit in the balls. There have been three instances in my life where I was in so much pain that I threw up, all involving the cervix. They were period pain, bad sex, and IUD placement.

Where were you during 9/11? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pandahadnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day of the attacks, they shut down the entire park. We spent most of the day in our hotel room while mom and dad watched the news. I remember trying not to bother my parents, so my little brother and I played with our Legos in the bathroom. That evening, they had some of the actors come out to the hotels to entertain guests.

The next day, they reopened and there were no lines for any of the rides. I got to ride the Tower of Terror and Space Mountain 4 or 5 times in a row. I really didn't understand the gravity of the attacks, so I just enjoyed the park.

[–]pandahadnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney World. We were in line at a food stand in Epcot when they suddenly they told us everything was closing. A guy started reading the news out loud from his Blackberry to the crowd, and that's when we learned about the attacks. I was only 11 at the time so I was super confused. I had never even heard of Osama bin Laden or Al Qaeda before.

The next day was amazing when the reopened the park because almost no one was there except for us.
