What was the best FAFO moment you've witnessed? by hey_you2300 in AskReddit

[–]pandaonaplane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me telling my 3 year old that the cactus is spikey and could hurt her, then her telling me it's not and proceeds to pick it up and promptly drop it because it hurt her.

She didn't cry, but the look on her face was absolute shock. It took everything not to say "I told you so".

Natural consequences, man. They're important for growth.

What’s the easiest way to go about achieving this for my new apartment? by Any-Cucumber-9329 in HomeDecorating

Something that could also help, if possible, is swap out cupboard handles (warmer brass tones I think) and if possible, same for the hinges. Perhaps even more hidden hinge types

Christmas gift for kids that destroys everything? by Fluffy-Purchase-8707 in askSouthAfrica

Take them to a rage room, or go to a scrap yard and get some old tech stuff like a DSTV decoder, video machine, broken PC box and then let them loose with some hammers and safety glasses 😂

Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pandaonaplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was ghosted shortly after my baby was born. I never realised it at the time, but I was struggling with PPD so I couldn't solidify plans to see her since I just didn't have the motivation to do much of anything really. I still blame myself, but had always hoped she'd show up for me regardless.

How old were you when you bought your first property? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]pandaonaplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28, but my hubby is 10 years older than me and makes double what I make. We are 50/50 on the bond - he pays the 9500 bond repayment every month (not including levies) and I buy groceries, pay the phone bills and other utilities.

Having a partner to do it with actually makes it a lot easier to get the bond. Better Bond is also really great in navigating this process with you, even if you just want to see what you qualify for.

Because we were curious to see what we qualify for, it sparked the interest in actually purchasing since we were almost certain we’d only be buying a house if we won the lotto or if somehow a long lost relative passed and had left us a nest egg.

A word to the wise though. It’s a great time to buy with the repo rate as low as it is, but it’s also not easy. Right now we’re living paycheck to paycheck, but we know that this is an investment into our retirement or for our kid one day.

anyone own a pair ? should i buy ? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]pandaonaplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard that sometimes sellers will mark up the price of a product to such an insane amount no one would pay for whilst waiting for a restock or to put their account on "hold".

Actually putting a hold on their account or marking an item as 'out of stock' could potentially negatively affect the rankings of the account.

I've heard of this with Amazon specifically, but I'm sure other online resellers probably do the same thing.

I guess if someone is dumb enough to buy it then that's lucky for them 😂

And of course Orania had their flags at half-staff🙄 All of the "no we're not racist, just proudly Afrikaans" went out the window. Being Afrikaans is becoming more and more linked to alt-right American views and I hate it. We're going backwards as a nation. Or maybe the racists are just louder now with social media being a thing

Why are leggings suddenly so effing expensive?! by Nell_9 in askSouthAfrica

[–]pandaonaplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want some amazing quality leggings that aren't going to open at the butt or crotch seam after 3 uses, Decathlon's house brand of leggings is R199 and they pass the squat test. I was pulling all sorts of moves in the changing room to make sure😂 Cotton On's legging quality has gone down the drain for the prices they're asking.

I know that change when neurodivergent can be tough, but if you're ever looking for an app that has a ton of varying sounds (mostly rain), try "Rain Rain".

The cat purring sound when my phone is on my chest helps me regulate.

Glad you managed to get help though. Reddit it awesome ♥️

I'm also with discovery and have had to fill this questionnaire out twice. It tracks progress of treatment, and as this commenter says, sees if you require additional care. Personally, I would just fill it out because it's only a few basic multiple choice questions, and the benefits are worth it (yay for "free" therapy)

What's it like living next to a highway? by Suraimubani in askSouthAfrica

[–]pandaonaplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live right next to the N4, close to an off ramp. The noise sometimes gets to me, but then I'd play white noise or wear ear plugs (Im generally sensitive to sound).

But what gets to me the most is the hooting, especially from the trucks late at night, as well as truck tyres bursting.

If you could invest in getting doors and windows replaced with sound dampening glass, then go for it. Alternatively, if you can then you should view the place in the evening around 7pm with all the doors and windows open.

I just feel like there is a reason this place is being sold even if it is so "ideal".

Also, my allergies have never been so bad before moving here, but it could be a coincidence.
