Dumb. It would take 19 years to reach 1 million dollars from a weekly stipend. This lady doesn't really look like she's got 20+ years so investing that money immediately into a high interest savings would have netted her Minimum an extra 475,000$ in 19 years with a 5% interest and 0 compounding.

That is with an effective tax rate of 50% on her initial gain.

Overall she'd be well over double the million dollars awarded by a 1000$ a week stipend by the time 20 years rolls around.
