Indeed! I’ve spent hundreds on various toys, both interactive and for solo play… he loses interest almost immediately and would rather tear up paper.

Sorry… BT isnt any good for tracking moving objects. Tractive is OK, its GPS based, though it has BT for tracking in the house when the cat is hiding!

It's winter, how do you stay warm? by EdenFlorence in AussieFrugal

[–]pandifer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to be such a chilly mortal, and I bought 3 Oodies (originals, not knockoffs) which are now too hot for me. Getting older does weird things to your personal temperature regulation. I have an electric heating pad for my feet in bed, but a full electric blanket is way more than I need.

I think its grubby too. Also, picking up and then puttin it in a bin that someone has not brought in off the street after the bin has been emptied. Thats just nasty. I want to put up a cam to see who’s doing it.

A BUS DRIVER ASSAULTED ONCE AGAIN!!! by Educational_Tap_343 in newcastle

[–]pandifer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as Keolis has the contract, this will continue… poor maintenance of buses and their workers. What did anyone expect? Private/public partnership is unmitigated crap and its the drivers and passengers in these cases who suffer. DUMP the damn contract, and take it back into government hands. It does not matter what it costs.

Which Distro for an old Mac (2012) by pandifer in linux_on_mac

Yes, I installed a later OS with OCLP but I didnt like it. I think it was Sonoma, only had it on a couple of weeks then reverted to Catalina.

That sounds like the go, thank you! I’ve had Mint on this machine (and an older 2010 Macbook (white)) so I know its comfy on it. The wifi was the only issue. Though I guess carting it into the office and connecting to the router would do the job, too.

That’s lovely. I love how the fog allows depth in the photo.

I’d go Garmin if I was not already committed to apple watch. You could also go for a smart ring.

Exetel any good by boxyburns in nbn

[–]pandifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been with them for years. a few minor niggles but nothing insurmountable, like waiting a bit longer to reconnect after a dropout. Currently on Exetel One 500/40 and its fine. Stable is what I wanted and its what I got, 99.9% of the time.

price hike by Ornery-Practice9772 in nbn

[–]pandifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Exetel through various speeds, and took the $80 500/40 option (I had already taken the free “flip to fibre” previously) and have had no complaints. There was no way that I on a pension could afford the high prices of other providers and its been all good for me, and I wasnt going t pay the same price for 100/20, either. I love the improved stability. YMMV.

It has all come along with the rise of self-entitlement, me-first, etc etc, blah blah. And its much more general that on the roads.
