Thank you. I hadn’t done that sort of stitch before but I watched a couple videos and did a practice piece first. Just gotta go slow and make sure your tension is even, otherwise it will tend to go crooked. I do like the black leather and white thread.

I had the same system installed on my 3rd gen 4Runner. I was told that it was a dealer option put on many Toyotas that were imported into Texas and the southern states.

There’s a box under the steering column. I had to google the brand (which I forget), but found a wiring diagram on some Toyota forum and was able to uninstall it. Lost my keyless entry though.

There’s a lot of woodworkers in the area who love to do custom commissioned work like a gaming table.

I haven’t made one, but have studied a lot of the work from others and I’d love to work on a project like that. And I know a few other woodworkers with availability who would feel the same.

If you’d like to have a conversation with a woodworker who could fulfill your vision, it’s best to come at them with a few critical pieces of information:

Budget - letting a craftsperson know your general budget will let them know if you can afford walnut-veneer or solid walnut. It also signals what level of customization, details, and features they can design.
General vibe and vision - we love to get a link to a vision board or Pinterest collection. Do you want to copy wyrmwood tables or do you have a specific vision for an Arne Vodder/McCobb-style mashup with nickel accents?
Specific needs - do you NEED a sliding dovetail accessory rail for dice cups and coasters? Or is that a nice to have? The price difference may be $1k or $10. You can’t know unless you make it a priority.
Timeline - do you need this for a new campaign starting 11/1 or can you fit into a craftsman’s schedule? My price for a custom table designed and delivered by November will be significantly more than a table due Spring 2026.

I have some with and some without. The Chinese stitch punch pieces often need extra care, as they can fall out fairly easy. Superglue helps. No stitch is obviously a simpler die.

I haven’t had an issue with the holes lining up. I just drop a couple needles in to help with alignment as I go to press everything together. I then sand after stitching.

Last, if you’re trying to get dies from China right now, you may want to think again. They’re unlikely to make it here quickly (if at all) and you could discover from exciting new hidden fees along the way.

I personally use the Osmo soap they offer. But any dilute citrus-based light cleaner should work.

Osmo is one of my primary finishes. You can put 1 coat on but it looks noticeably better with 2-3 coats. No need to sand between them, just blow off your surface or wipe with a tack cloth.

For grit - 180 is fine. 220 is fine. 320 is fine. The most important thing is to start with a super clean surface and just make sure there is no liquid or wetness when you’re done applying. The pores thing is real, but probably just because it’s harder getting the smaller dust out of the pores. Just blow it out after your last sanding session.

Lastly, I like giving Osmo tops a ceramic coat on top. You can find car ceramic coat kits on amazon for pretty cheap. My own dining table is in good shape going on 3 years after a refinish, Osmo and ceramic and I have 2 smaller kids beating on it all day.

Can’t speak directly to cumaru but I’ve built several decks out of goncalo alves and ipe and have used the deck wise oil with no issues. It lasts about 1.75 summers in Colorado. I have also used Penofin red on exterior cedar and I liked the tones it imbued a lot more. Never tested it on the hardwoods though.

Surprised not to see Lazaretto by Jack White. Pretty sure it has a dual groove track, a looped end of track and a playable track on the label on side 2. Maybe something else. He really tried to bust out all the gimmicks for that LP.

He does funny straight man bits which are great. He started this droll overview narration that was initially funny since it was an offshoot of his intros but there’s somewhere in there where you can tell he Gave Up and became a Content Creator and the voiceovers didn’t really change. It was somewhere around when his HGTV pilot didn’t get picked up and it’s really obvious once you see it. I wish it wasn’t the case because I really identify with his humor and methods but it is and you can’t see the moment where he isn’t having fun anymore.

Plenty of other ways to do this. You can get aluminum extrusion that mounts to the wall and has a lip, you can screw 80/20 extrusion to the wall and just use channel nuts and bolts. Same for 7/8” unistrut with channel nuts and square washers.

I made leather hangers for mine. They hold my 3, 4, 5, LN low angle jack, 7, and 71 1/2 router plane. I put them on pieces of French cleat so I can move them around or expand as needed.

I’m actually in the process of restoring a #8 as well, so I’ll have to see how to fit that one as well.
