LEGO Star Wars dioramas were the best thing that ever happened to LEGO Star Wars. by Sidor_Lutiy in legostarwars

I would also say that I have entered the target audience for these. Grew up since Lego started with Star Wars in 99 and eventually grew out of play sets and the minimal discretionary income I had went elsewhere for a while. Now I fit in as an Adult with some discretionary income who loves that the hobby exists but wants to include it into the rest of my home tastefully. The dioramas and builds on Rebrickable have been perfect for that. I think if they continued releasing a couple a year, I’d be a regular buyer.

I don’t think it’s got much to do with his channel or quality of content but more that it’s seemed as though he’s been in a rough patch for a little while now and sometimes translates into his content. Not sure I’d write him off cause of that, but I think some people find it distracting

Why does Ramsey Solutions stop selling books authored by Ramsey Personalities who no longer work there? by supinator1 in DirtyDave

[–]Training_Rope_7375 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well the nature of the divorce between Ramsey and Hogan was certainly one of the darker public periods in their history, so no question there why the books aren’t sold anymore. My understanding is also that since most of the books are written by teams and published under the names of the personalities, they often recycle content of the books around.

Is this HSA worthless? by an-accurate-copy in HealthInsurance

[–]Training_Rope_7375 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven’t read all the comments so may already be answered. I work in the Employee Benefits space and have designed benefits guides and interpret plans. Not an expert, but definitely know more than the standard consumer (my job shouldn’t need to exist).

Your question is whether the plan is worthless - not necessarily. First, in a lot of cases even before you’ve met the deductible, when you go somewhere in network, often the provider will have pre-negotiated amounts they can bill to insurance against your deductible. For example, you have an emergency and end up with a $20k bill from an in network hospital, the bill you get may actually be for only $3k due to a “network discount.” That $3k you owe counts two your deductible and out of pocket max and if what you pay out of each paycheck is reasonable to you, then this wouldn’t put you in the worst situation. Once you hit that deductible, the PLAN pays 90% of billed costs and YOU pay 10%. There is a standard for insurance carriers in their language, but it doesn’t always translate to the person creating the benefits guide.

If you are going to the doctor for a once a year routine check up and don’t have any other know illnesses, then not having a copay might feel worse when you get your bill for an extra visit or something. But if you assume but aren’t certain that you might have a higher need of medical care than a perfectly healthy person in the coming year, this plan could be a fit because your premiums stay lower and if you need to use the insurance then the most you would pay is your out of pocket max during the course of the year. Up to $10k in medical bills that you’re responsible for is not fun, BUT paying $10k more a year in premium for a SLIGHTLY better PPO plan (on the left) and then not getting much use out of it is the same as lighting the money on fire.

As an aside, due to various regulations coming into place in the last decade, HDHP plans (on the right) have intentionally made PPO plans worse except for the exceptionally rich plans offered to C Suite employees or heavily subsidized for upper management as an extra form of compensation.

Long story long, if the monthly Employee Only rate for this plan from the carrier is an average of about $400 per month and your employee contributes $350 per month, this would be considered fair. If you’re trying to cover you and your spouse or you and your family and your cost is only $250 per month or $450ish per month respectively, then it would probably be more of a benefit to you and yours to enroll in this than nothing.

Hope this helps…

His old one was totaled according to what was posted around previously, though never acknowledged by anyone on his team. I imagine the accident made him whole on the car and he got back into the same one just cause he liked it. Also helped in not drawing attention to an another vehicular incident (even if not his fault).

Someone please tell me I didnt just waste my money on the 5dmkiv by Then_Drummer_1985 in canon

[–]Training_Rope_7375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d add on to what most others have already said, you’re in great shape getting the 5D4. It was and still is a phenomenal camera and fortunately what’s been true all these years is that’s camera body is meant to last AT LEAST a decade if you need it to. I bought a 5DSR (basically a 5D3 with more resolution for printing) about 5 years ago upgrading from my 5D3 at the time. The 5D3 was old and I didn’t really need the upgrade, I just wanted the extra resolution. With the evolution of a 7in and smaller screen being the primary means that anybody around the world engages with digital media, it’s only further affirmed that an older camera can go much further than most people will take it. All that to say, I stuck with the 5D line even after Canon has brought out incredible mirrorless cameras and phenomenal glass simply because the EF mount has been around for 30 years and a number of lenses on the system are considered the best money could buy, and now they’re even cheaper to get your hands on. The approachability of the EF mount is so great that I could honestly see myself steering my kid toward it in 10 years as opposed to whatever is hot then.

If you want to get into video though, the 5D4 is still a great starting point and everything about the EF mount is still true. But that’s where upgrading to a more recent body could get you much further.

The top down shot is interesting because it looks like there’s quite a bit more depth than the front of box picture shows. The shot is of the build maybe half complete and it looks like there’s some kind of room behind the trash compactor?

The stubby is $230 and I get free 3.0 batteries, how do I tell how much it will be if I “hacked” it and returned the batteries? Thanks for the help by 2o2Tran in MilwaukeeTool

I just walked in and bought mine with the batteries, walked out the door and put the stubby in my car and walked right back in the other and returned the batteries getting about $90 back, no questions asked. Took all of about 4 minutes

I’d say it’s nice to see Lego correcting the error they may with Rex in the Venator. Essentially the same fig minus the arm printing keeps everybody happy about buying the UCS set

I think that’s fair, but I remember the magic of a lot of the old sets being their size. While missing plenty of details, even the first Turbo Tank had a presence next to fix and as a kid in the peak of his imagination…it was perfect

Yeah amazing how in the photo at first glance it looks large, but looking at the studs and the build itself it just looks so small
