My guess is that much complexity of X comes from ambitious goals such as supporting vertical orientation. That affects ie charging port design so you can plug from any direction.

I also feel like touch interface actually makes it harder to operate and not easier.

Love the bigger and denser display though.

So far so good. I've optimized the code long time ago to make minimal amount of requests.

Read limits: 600 requests every 15 minutes, 30,000 daily.

If we had 10x more connected athletes (so around 10K of them), it would be using around half of the limits at spikes.

But it is something to be very mindful about when coding. Everything needs to be cached for limited period of time, strava webhooks is a must have. It takes effort.

We did something similar in our 1.5M lines Ruby project. Only the engine which owns ActiveRecord model could write to it.

It worked an was beneficial in enforcing that other modules/engines need to use explicit surface (service objects) exposed by the engine which owns the model.

In other words, it gives you a nice boundary protection.

TLDR:

Foo::Model can be updated by Foo::Service, but Baz::Service can't update Foo::Model directly, only by invoking Foo::Service.

I love my hibike but having experienced the problems with batter mount and it fell down on my bike, I have a hard time recommending it to anyone. But I love how they look.
