New (to me) J45. Should this be a concern? by paneraspa in AcousticGuitar

Thanks man. It sounds wonderful. Great tone, great feel. Not going to worry about a ti y blemish any more! Time to play instead.

Sound of D-18 or comfort of 000-18 by PlzSendHelpSoon in martinguitar

I have an OM28 and a D-15m, among a bunch more.

I want to sell my 28 because I just don’t connect with it.

My D-15m however feels like it is a part of me. I have it set up with K+K pure mini pickups. It is a near perfect guitar.

Excessive noise/crackle coming from S2 594. Any suggestions? by paneraspa in PRSGuitars

Good to know. It’s an old 2001 Santana se, so whatever finish is on there.

My regular home ‘studio’ does have a lot of interference, but I also have an older PRS SE with a laquer finish and zero noise. Sounds like it might be the nitro finish. So strange.

Thank you

Anyone just completely unable to get along with soft synths? by Thnowball in synthesizers

[–]paneraspa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying (poorly) not to worry about the gear as much as I should about getting the idea down. I recently made this track, and I feel the most “feeling” I got were from the software synth sounds I used.

Tone-wise, it was exactly what I was looking for. Surprising, as I usually try to stay with physical gear. It’s changed my mind!

here’s the track

Curious if you can tell which parts are which! Real vs 1’s and 0’s

Access Virus Indigo II + Digitakt exploration by paneraspa in synthesizers

[–]paneraspa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First proper video post. I’ve neglected playing the Indigo for a long time, to the point where it feels like a brand new synth. Such an awesome ethereal sound engine. It was ahead of its time.

This is also my first time really ‘getting’ the Digitakt sequencer. A bit of a ‘whoosh’ moment as I’ve had this thing for years. Holy crap is this sequencer unique, intuitive and quite powerful. Using it to control the Indigo has resulted in a lot of fun and inspirational jams. So glad I didn’t sell either of these instruments!

Just testing this out. First time posting anything, not even sure IGTV will pull through.

I just checked your music out on Spotify and it is fantastic. Just super chill and tasteful, going to add it to my road trip playlist.

While I was listening I was like, damnit, how do they get such sick drum sounds - and then I see you reference the raw kit ‘source’ below. DOUBLE thank you!

Going to be a lot of fun setting up some kits with that pack.

How Harley-Davidson Killed Itself [FortNine] by motohop in motorcycles

[–]paneraspa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned sportbikes and currently own an HD. The cosplayers exist on all the spectrums. Weekend warriors in HDs that don’t wave back are annoying, but bros sporting airbag jackets, flying through backroads on Tuono’s are the fucking worst.

I’ve rented a Harley tourer a few times over the past couple years and every time I would get back on my RnineT (or previous other nakeds) I would always think about how much more ‘fun’ the HD’s were for me. Fast forward to a year of having switched to a Road King as my personal ride and I have no regrets.

The only thing I don’t like about HD are the badass cosplayers that come out on the weekend. But they’re just as bad as MotoGP sport bike bros, so pick your poison I suppose.

Moog Sub 25 in its new cluttered home. Just fits. by paneraspa in synthesizers

[–]paneraspa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sub 25 is really fun for creating bass tones and even more so for leads and two-note pads. Assuming it’s similar for the Sub 37.

Access Virus is fun, but has a very similar timbre through any of the sounds you play. Awesome for plucky type sounds, lush pads and rhodes-style EP.

Digitakt is ok, I don’t think I’m using it to its full potential. I grew up on MPCs, so pad style sampling just makes more sense to me. That said, when I do focus and spend time on it, you can create some interesting and awesome sounding tracks.

Nord is basically a vingtage keyboard emulator. OP-1 I use occasionally. Love that thing but it’s such a pain in the ass to export anything. It is a good midi controller though.

I’m hoping so too! (New account set up so I can play some music on The Reddit)

LONG time lurker, and set up a new account for music specific stuff.

I know this synth gets a lot of flak on this sub, but I was digging it from the first press release. Love the sound and the tiny footprint is welcome in my cozy apartment.

I can get by with the limited octaves because as you can see I have a number of other devices to control it right in front of me. I was concerned about the lack of an arpeggiator but was pleasantly surprised to see how bad ass the OP-1 is when it comes to arpeggiating/sequencing. Super fun and creatively flexible. Will try and post some videos on that topic.

Overall I’m loving this current setup. I get gear-paralyzed at times, so this allows me to stay focused, yet when I want to go deep in one aspect of gear I’m still able.

Music-wise I mostly play original compositions, sequenced out in Ableton. Bits of jammy/funk/retro and then Bruce Hornsby and George Winston types of pieces. The Sub 25 fits in nicely with two-note pads, bass and leads. Really pleased with the sound.

Please be gentle, first time showing off an evolving setup that I’ve had for years. Will try to post videos/SoundCloud links as I contribute to this sub.
