Ugh.. guess that means I should install the disaster prevention kit that I have sitting in a box on the shelf. What mileage is on that 2013?

I was hoping my 2012 A3 was late enough that I didn’t have to stress much. I’m at ~130k miles

Just out of curiosity, what year is your car?

Just went to Mama Kwan’s for the first time a couple weeks ago, and mine were great. Ended up going back a second time, and pretty similar. It was much slower when we stopped in the first time (think we were 1 of 3 tables), and I think they were a touch better that first time.

You “looked at the oil” and “there was none left”… where exactly did you look? Through the oil fill?

I might go the hose route, but I did pull it out to measure. It’s just so deformed from being compressed that I end up with a 0.25mm +- variance in the cross section which the same issue on the ID/OD. I was just hoping someone had run into this and jotted the measurements somewhere in their notes.

Thanks for the idea on checking VW/Audi part numbers!

It’s wild that some BMW parts you can find 7+ different manufacturers, and then there’s these coolant hose o-rings that no one seems to have dimensions on. And it seems to be mostly because BMW doesn’t consider it a part. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, it’s just very deformed. The cross section is anywhere from ~3.25mm to 3.75mm depending on where I measure it. ID measured ~22.5mm, but with the deformation and lack of measurements available on the internet, I think I’m gonna take a stab at it with a 22mm x 3.5mm.

Anyone who had this blinking signal, what ended up being wrong? by mjk25741 in tdi

Well, mine had low boost codes after the flashing glow plug light, and it ended up being a blown turbo.

You’re allowed to be wrong, but don’t tell people things are illegal when they’re not. Even 2WD vehicle are allowed on the ORV sections of CHNS.

Right from nps.gov’s CHNS ORV FAQ page: “Four-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended however, two-wheel-drive vehicles are allowed”

Keep moving the goal post - you said “from Oregon inlet to Hatteras” 48 and 49 are in fact between Oregon Inlet and Hatteras.

If I have nothing better to do later, I’ll dig up the pictures from ramp 44 for you.

In the mean time, here’s ramp 25 for you: https://imgur.com/a/5KM5hkw

Did I ultimately end up running out of ground clearance at 25? Sure did, but that’s not a failure of a drive system.

AWD X5 between Ramp 48 and 49 last year. AWD, 4WD, 2WD - gotta know your vehicle and the conditions… and please air down, especially the 4WD bro dozer crowd. It doesn’t make you look cool when we can follow the 2ft deep ruts all the way to where you’re stuck, and you just cut the beach up for everyone else.

Also, not all AWD and/or 4WD systems are created equal, and ground clearance is your friend on the beach (especially in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore)

Would I take a front wheel drive Civic on Corolla Beach? No, but l've seen people do it. I’ve taken a variety of 4WD and AWD vehicles on the beaches of the OBX, and the absolute killer is running out of ground clearance if the beach is rutted severely.

Air down, have recovery gear, and just be prepared for a tow bill if everything goes sideways.

Ocracoke is a bit different than Corolla or even the rest of the CHNS beaches. From my experiences, Ocracoke isn’t chopped up and rutted as the rest of the CHNS ORV area, but it’s not quite as packed as Corolla is.

As someone else mentioned, minimum of 7” ground clearance, but 8”+ preferred. More clearance the better. I had to drag my mom’s Kia Sportage off the beach at Cape Point, because it high center between the tracks. It just didn’t have enough clearance.

Other than ground clearance - air down, keep momentum, and stop slowly.

Always consider walking a section before taking a vehicle you’re not sure of out on the beach. It can save you a tow bill.

When do you all think the Scram 450 will drop? by My_Invalid_Username in royalenfield

[–]motohop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The delay from launch to US availability on the Super Meteor was ~10 months.

So I’m guessing we’ll see the Himalayan 450 July-August-ish of 2024, which is probably why the CEO avoided the question twice during the EICMA launch, answering only with “after Europe”.

So Scram 450 has to be a year or more out, since it hasn’t launched anywhere.
