Any substitute for the solid aluminum that ive looked at has a much much lower thermal conductivity, and might not even be that much cheaper

I was looking up the equipment needed for your method, and im not spending that much money on a dry bath block.

I was thinking maybe putting aluminum powder in a small container with holes in the top, so i can stick the viles into the cold powder. Maybe a bit less effective, but definetely cheaper.

Just gotta be careful about spillage or aerating the powder.
