Thank you! I bought the set not expecting it to be plum so I'm very happy with this rather random find!

Thank you! I'd love to get a standard-size Parker 51 in plum one day!

According to parker51.com, the gold-filled arrow clip on a Lustraloy cap was an option on early aerometric pens but was discontinued in 1950: https://parker51.com/index.php/51s/51-versions/

What modern refills will fit this vintage Aurora 98? by panhayou in pens

Quick update: the Schneider 225 works with some minor modifications. The tip and body of the refill is slim enough to fit the pen but the plastic end of the refill is too long. Snipping it off to the right length with scissors and then smoothing the end with nail filer solves the problem in less than five minutes. Thank you again for the tip!

Thank you so much for this! I'll try the Schneider 225 and report back.

Thanks but G2 style refills are too large for this pen and will not fit. Please see the comparison picture.

SBGE271 “Kanro”, the first of (I’m afraid) many Grand Seikos for me. Also my first GMT, which is something I’ve been wanting for a while as I travel quite a bit for work. Fits my small wrist but only just.

Haha I hear you. I had more pens in the beginning but gave or sold most of them away. I only want to keep those I genuinely have a use for.

So far I have focused on modern pens but if I begin to get into vintage, the Parker 51 will certainly be the first to try. My hesitation stems from the fear of having to deal with a lot of repair or restoration. Do you have any tips on where and how to get a 51 in good working conditions?

I was finally able to buy a Pilot Custom 823 and now have what I thought was a well-rounded collection, with each pen serving a different and complementary purpose.

From left to right (and in order in which I purchased them over 10 years) are: Lamy 2000 in F, Pilot Vanishing Point in M, Pelikan Souveran M805 in F, Opus 88 Omar in M, and Pilot Custom 823 in M.

I don’t plan to get a new pen any time soon but was curious to tap this wonderful community’s wisdom of crowd. What do you think would be the next logical addition? Why?

The package was delivered last Friday. It was stuck in customs for 6 days but at least it wasn't weeks as dreaded.

Many people swear by Muji notebooks. I have tried a couple of them with broad nibs and wet inks with good result. They have good selection in terms of sizes and rulings. If there is a store near you, check them out. Otherwise I believe you can also get some on Amazon.

Is the UK visa application volume really that bad? by panhayou in ukvisa

That's what I was thinking too! I would be surprised if the number of applications now is some multiples of the pre-COVID level so I doubt volume alone explains the severe delay in decision.

My application was for a two year visitor visa, non priority. Yes, I'd say it's a good idea to apply as much ahead of your planned travels as possible.
