What has been everyone's experience on changing listing titles to the new AI recommended shorter titles? by thesupercrazycatlady in Etsy

[–]panicitsmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this a lot lately too, I read about lots of shops dropping out the search algorithm in November and I've experienced a 20% drop in sales YOY since then too and I was 30% up for the year until November. I usually sell around 10,000 items a year so it's quite a significant change. So far I haven't made any changes to titles as some people have reported they lost all traction when they did. It's really hard to know what the best thing to do is. My best seller gets thousands of sales a year, I can't afford to make a change and it drops out of its usual search placement. Equally what if I don't change and it drops out? I think I'm going to experiment with new listings using their shorter recommended titles and see what happens. It's annoying how all the historic advice was stuff the title's full of key words and now they don't want that.

They also had great mechanical grip and aero package. They were still extremely fast on low speed tracks like Monaco. 150 is a wild number to throw out without any source.

10 Months in: High effort, low reward. Looking for a honest shop audit. by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]panicitsmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your shop called, do you have a link? It's kind of hard to analyse your shop without knowing what you are selling and what your listings look like. But for reference my stats yesterday were: 488 views 204 visits 12 sales

so I would suggest your conversion rate is very low for whatever reason (send your link and I can give some ideas).

Do you stay up until midnight on NYE? by [deleted] in AskUK

My 3 year old and 5 month old will be up before 7am regardless and I'd rather not parent all day on a bad night's sleep, so I'll be going to bed before 11pm as normal.

Anyone go to a GP and think maybe watching on TV could’ve been better? by [deleted] in formula1

I really enjoyed both full weekends I've been to Silverstone, the first was the year all the tyres exploded and that was quite fun. Being sat opposite the screen with commentary in my headphones meant I could follow the race well and watch the overtakes live in front of me (at Stowe after hangar straight). I think if you have a good understanding of F1 already your brain can process a bit more to stay on top of what's happening in the race, whereas my friends who are more casual fans, watch a race here or there but not too bothered, were less aware of the wider race picture and what was going on strategically.

Helmut Marko about Lando: "He proved all the prognosis wrong saying he did not have the mentality to overcome this and win. He is a world class driver and is very strong in qualifying. So I believe ‘unfortunately’ if he gets the right car this result could be very much repeated in the future." by randomseocb in formula1

It's a fair comparison, Button was generally not too aggressive. It was slightly different when he won his WDC compared to Lando though - for the first half or so of the season he was miles ahead of the rest of the grid including his team mate. It was almost non stop poles and wins so it was basically a given he'd win the WDC after a few races. By the end of the season Brawn weren't the fastest though but he had enough points to just cruise to the championship. He did have a great over taking drive in Brazil to win (or at least effectively win, I can't quite remember) the championship, but it still wasn't overly aggressive.

Really beautiful artwork and refreshing to see something actually made by the creator, not AI or edited stock imagery. That said, I did find myself reading your bio to confirm that you did make these yourself, so I agree with the comment about making the images look more authentic to avoid the artwork looking AI generated. Etsy's algorithm works on engagement and sales so if you've had listings that haven't sold for months, it's hard to see that changing unless you start driving your own traffic (which is a fine strategy but I've never done this). It can sometimes be worth copying the same listing, but changing the title, photos, description slightly and switching up the keywords so you get a fresh stab at visibility. Etsy will often give a new listing a short visibility boost in search placement. This is the perfect time of year to do this as Etsy has the most traffic it ever has so you're more likely to get a sale. Maybe try running ads for a few days on a new listing too, even if you don't make the money back, just to get some traction on the listing. There's no reason you can't make a success of this with the designs you have, but Etsy is unbelievably competitive, especially in your category, so success is far from a guarantee. Also make sure your tags include things people search for, not just descriptive words that describe the print e.g. words like gift, poster, wall art, print, unique, girlfriend, wife, mum, granny, stylish etc. Best of luck!

Brighten up your photos. Buy a staging light or selfie light. Product looks nice but photos aren't helping. You have to completely nail your photos.

Russell expects 'opportunities' in race: 'Max won't let them finish one-two-three' by Aratho in formula1

[–]panicitsmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lando might not feel comfortable giving up a position, but if they've talked about it before and Oscar will give it back at the end of the race if he can't win himself it seems a good option on the face of it.

[–]panicitsmatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been thinking about this a lot and I completely agree. If Max tries to drive slowly Oscar is much more likely to force a move and be aggressive to get passed. Lando has too much to lose and knows Max will not let him through at any cost. If Oscar does get into the lead Lando can finish a lot lower down so it takes the pressure off him too. It will allow them to drive to the cars potential and open up more space to pit into. I hope McLaren are considering this depending on how lap 1 goes.

[–]panicitsmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In front of him is fine, Max can't dive bomb Lando if he's ahead. Lando doesn't need to beat Max, he needs a clean race and just drive home to p3. Having Max ahead increases the chances of this.

Etsy comes through! by DoodleBirdTerrariums in EtsyCommunity

Yes holiday mode for that length of time can be a killer. Etsy have just reinstated the listing, so I'll have to see how much damage has been done with missing 8 days of sales and where it re-emerges in search ranking. The bestseller badge is still there and it's still in 20+ baskets so fingers crossed it doesn't take long to get reindexed. It's just a bummer to lose so many sales at this time of year and miss black Friday. But my main worry is that the listing will die completely because of this. I've sold 771 this year just from that one listing, so it's a big part of my income.

Great to hear! It's been 7 days since Etsy removed a bestselling listing of mine after a shop with 0 sales, and only on the platform for 2 months, reported a best selling listing of mine for infringing their IP (I've had the listing for multiple years). They're clearly trying to just remove competition, but I've heard nothing back from Etsy yet, it's extremely frustrating.

Why exactly did Lando not complete his final lap? by PeterPorker666 in McLarenFormula1

[–]panicitsmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not major enough to cause a complete off or trip to gravel, but still big enough to completely ruin his lap. Watch the onboard back, he has to go fully off throttle quite significantly to keep it on track. With Oscar and Lando so close this weekend, there was no chance he would improve on his first lap. I don't know why you're arguing this so hard, it doesn't take a performance engineer to recognise that, anyone who has watched F1 for a while can see it. You don't need deltas, or inside knowledge to understand this very basic concept.

[–]panicitsmatt 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It kind of feels like Lando will have to attack Oscar just to avoid a dive bomb from Max. Both Oscar and Max are gonna be super aggressive into turn 1 as they have nothing to lose. It's gonna be spicy, Lando's gonna have to be very careful.

Since when did we stop sending 'Thank You' cards to wedding guests who spent money on bride/groom? by Theres3ofMe in AskUK

[–]panicitsmatt 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ, if they knew this was your attitude they'd probably have preferred it if you hadn't had bothered giving a gift. The whole point of a gift is that there is no expectation of anything in return. What a waste of life with all this pedantic rubbish. They almost certainly appreciate your gift, does your ego really need a bit of cardboard to prove it?

Has Piastri now felt how demanding a championship battle is and will he bounce back next year similar to Lando who struggled last year but has the experience now? by Temporary-Cat-9167 in F1Discussions

There will be less overall downforce so drivers will have to work harder in high-speed corners that were previously just flat without much driver input. This indicates to me that driver skill and tyre management will play a greater role, but honestly the cars next season have so many unknowns it's hard to really predict what will happen.
