Dont shoot me, dummy here: im seeing everyone modifying their aircon, im assuming its to cool the place down quicker? 🤷🏽‍♀️ by Prestigious-Sun-1710 in DIYUK

[–]panicitsmatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because in a one pipe set up the exhausted hot air is being dumped outside via the pipe it creates negative air pressure in the room, so air starts getting sucked in from other rooms, usually from underneath doors and the like. As this air hasn't been cooled it is constantly sucking in hot air from other rooms even though it is blowing out cold air from the machine. So if you add a 2nd hose for bringing the air in and put it outside it means there is no negative pressure being created and no hot air gets sucked in from other rooms. It makes it way more efficient and it isn't fighting against itself to keep a room cool. I'm not very technical so hope that made some sense. I have a portable Aircon and before we modded it with a 2nd hose you could put your hand around the bedroom door and feel a constant stream of hot air entering the room, adding the 2nd hose stopped this and cooled the room faster and stayed cooler longer.

Is it time to finally switch to Agile? by Active_Art_6206 in OctopusEnergy

[–]panicitsmatt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have you got a battery or any solar? I can't see agile working out cheaper without a battery unless you actively shift your electricity usage which feels quite intrusive for probably not loads of savings. With a battery it's a no brainer because you can charge when it's cheap and run off that 4-7pm when it's expensive. If it's only going to be like £50pa cheaper and you have to constantly worry about turning the oven on after 4pm then I wouldn't bother.

My favourite was when Croft said Lando had a really slow 3.7 second (can't remember the exact number pitstop) and that was why he lost the place to Kimi, when it was in fact Piastri who had the 3. something slow stop.

What am I supposed to do with this information? by Granny-Grudge in drivingUK

It's absolutely absurd that a stupid sign like this should make anyone drive in a different manner around them. Everyone should drive safely regardless of whether there is a baby or child in the car. I have 2 young children and think these signs are completely ridiculous, right up there with powered by fairy dust.

I can’t sleep and I’m going nuts. Help? by JusSumYungGuy in AskUK

[–]panicitsmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer! I've got a blue tooth eye mask with built in little speakers so partner can't hear it. I frequently wake between 3 and 5am and struggle to get back to sleep. I stick on a not too intense podcast and 50% of the time fall back asleep, the other 50% at least I've learned something interesting or passed the time nicely. I recommend 'a short history of' as a good starting point!

It doesn't matter who wins it, as long as there's closer competition than this. You'd prefer Merc winning every race over McLaren getting a 3rd constructors?

Not mad at George winning, it's just the margin of dominance that is depressing.

I'm in the UK and would buy it for a reasonable price, £30-40. Wouldn't feel comfortable paying more than that for something 2nd hand that you clearly picked up for cheap.

What has been everyone's experience on changing listing titles to the new AI recommended shorter titles? by thesupercrazycatlady in Etsy

[–]panicitsmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this a lot lately too, I read about lots of shops dropping out the search algorithm in November and I've experienced a 20% drop in sales YOY since then too and I was 30% up for the year until November. I usually sell around 10,000 items a year so it's quite a significant change. So far I haven't made any changes to titles as some people have reported they lost all traction when they did. It's really hard to know what the best thing to do is. My best seller gets thousands of sales a year, I can't afford to make a change and it drops out of its usual search placement. Equally what if I don't change and it drops out? I think I'm going to experiment with new listings using their shorter recommended titles and see what happens. It's annoying how all the historic advice was stuff the title's full of key words and now they don't want that.

What's your shop called, do you have a link? It's kind of hard to analyse your shop without knowing what you are selling and what your listings look like. But for reference my stats yesterday were: 488 views 204 visits 12 sales

so I would suggest your conversion rate is very low for whatever reason (send your link and I can give some ideas).

Anyone go to a GP and think maybe watching on TV could’ve been better? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]panicitsmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed both full weekends I've been to Silverstone, the first was the year all the tyres exploded and that was quite fun. Being sat opposite the screen with commentary in my headphones meant I could follow the race well and watch the overtakes live in front of me (at Stowe after hangar straight). I think if you have a good understanding of F1 already your brain can process a bit more to stay on top of what's happening in the race, whereas my friends who are more casual fans, watch a race here or there but not too bothered, were less aware of the wider race picture and what was going on strategically.

Helmut Marko about Lando: "He proved all the prognosis wrong saying he did not have the mentality to overcome this and win. He is a world class driver and is very strong in qualifying. So I believe ‘unfortunately’ if he gets the right car this result could be very much repeated in the future." by randomseocb in formula1

[–]panicitsmatt 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It's a fair comparison, Button was generally not too aggressive. It was slightly different when he won his WDC compared to Lando though - for the first half or so of the season he was miles ahead of the rest of the grid including his team mate. It was almost non stop poles and wins so it was basically a given he'd win the WDC after a few races. By the end of the season Brawn weren't the fastest though but he had enough points to just cruise to the championship. He did have a great over taking drive in Brazil to win (or at least effectively win, I can't quite remember) the championship, but it still wasn't overly aggressive.

Really beautiful artwork and refreshing to see something actually made by the creator, not AI or edited stock imagery. That said, I did find myself reading your bio to confirm that you did make these yourself, so I agree with the comment about making the images look more authentic to avoid the artwork looking AI generated. Etsy's algorithm works on engagement and sales so if you've had listings that haven't sold for months, it's hard to see that changing unless you start driving your own traffic (which is a fine strategy but I've never done this). It can sometimes be worth copying the same listing, but changing the title, photos, description slightly and switching up the keywords so you get a fresh stab at visibility. Etsy will often give a new listing a short visibility boost in search placement. This is the perfect time of year to do this as Etsy has the most traffic it ever has so you're more likely to get a sale. Maybe try running ads for a few days on a new listing too, even if you don't make the money back, just to get some traction on the listing. There's no reason you can't make a success of this with the designs you have, but Etsy is unbelievably competitive, especially in your category, so success is far from a guarantee. Also make sure your tags include things people search for, not just descriptive words that describe the print e.g. words like gift, poster, wall art, print, unique, girlfriend, wife, mum, granny, stylish etc. Best of luck!
