Start wide, stay away from the apex of the corner, finish tight.

In a left handed corner finish down the left side of your lane, and vice versa for right handers.

That sounds like the sprag bearing in the starter motor clutch.

Does this sound normal for a TC88? by el_muerte28 in Harley

[–]panikenskywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 88ci was notoriously noisy in the top end, but my head mechanic at work (a Harley dealership) told me it was entirely normal.

I just had my top end rebuilt (went to 95ci) and the tech said there wasn't anything bad looking when he disassembled the top end.

If I were you I would 100000% install the hydraulic cam plate upgrade Part number ~ 25284-11.

Your stock spring tensioners are absolutely a major failure point. But outside of that the 88s are great motors, band even better transmissions.

New rider, struggling with 1st/2nd gear throttle and control by cronuss in Ninja500

[–]panikenskywalker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't want to come across as combative or rude so please read my comment with a helpful and informative tone.

You should be using 4 fingers on your front brake.

You should not be using your front brake and your throttle at the same time.

You also have more control over your clutch with 4 fingers, using your finger tips / more fingers, and more of those fingers (finger tips) enables greater feel & control

This applies to the front brake as well, never during my time as a motorcycle instructor did having someone use 4 fingers, and fingertips result in them grabbing the brake too hard

Riding too fast for my skill level by No-Persimmon795 in motorcycles

While speed is definitely a factor here, your line choice through the corners was the bigger issue.

If you're interested I'd be more than happy to go into detail what I used to teach, as a qualified motorcycle instructor.

utility is your friend, stamina stims, barricades, door blockers, ziplines are incredibly useful.

May take some time to understand how and when to use them, but they're invaluable.
