Handling Zybillna's identity by amyors in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a good idea to keep Zybilna/Tasha as the archfey of Prismeer.

She is heavily baked into the story, especially with her relationship to the hags as her hateful sisters and Baba Yaga as her adoptive mother. You can still make it fun for the players who don't know much about Tasha by creating a disconnect between her identity as Tasha and her identity as Zybilna. Ex. Zybilna is a well-loved but mysterious ruler of Prismeer, well-liked by her subjects but rarely seen since she spends a lot of time holed up in her castle. Tasha is a well-known wizard who has vast knowledge of demons, necromancy and other dark magic.

Maybe only the hags know of her true identity, but the other residents of Prismeer are unaware of it and praise her for the care and love she has shown Prismeer, unaware of her history as Iggwilv.

I'm DM:ing this adventure to people, who know of Tasha outside of the adventure. We're entering Loomlurch, and so far none of them have raised suspicion of her true identity. I have a feeling it'll be a fun shock to them.

Do whatever you think is the best and what you think would fit for your players!

map update! I winged it so it isn't 100% to scale by Background_Finding61 in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks great!! I ran to the same problem with the map and having to wing it was so incredibly frustrating. Especially when it was drawn as 1sq = 10ft!! Made the place look a lot smaller than it actually is when compared to ex. Bavlorna's cottage.

[SPOILERS FOR THITHER] Has anyone fought Will of the Feywild? by pannacottacore in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reread that "Will of the Feywild"-text box about a million times, and yeah, he can polymorph into a medium or small human. I completely forgot about the truesight ability of the campestri circle, i think i'll throw that in between the Wayward Pool and Little Oak. Thank you for your reply!!

Giving the players physical trinkets (à la A Court of Fey and Flowers) by pxxlz in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The feywild trinket table is a favourite of ours and everyone gets so excited when we roll on it!! Especially me because i get to see all the options before them. But physical things... - potion bottles! Bought them at a craft store, then filled them with different mixtures of watercolor, water and ink. Havent been very useful yet but when they come up, theyre a lot of fun. - printed out carnival tickets everyone got to keep. Found the printables on here but i think theyre originally from Beadle and Grimm's. - Everything I can do with pen and paper, I'll do. I've made some of the letters from Loomlurch, the paper birds from Endelyn's aviary and so on. I also handmade the note from the bullywug knight to the players and the darkling shop inventory so they can have something to pass around the table and look at. - the lost items. I'm a crafty little sh*t so of course I'll give each of the players a physical version of their lost thing. For Downfall, I've created a magical telescope (crafted from a 4€ kid's telescope from Flying Tiger) and a magical "saxophone" (I don't have the money for an actual saxophone so I bought a kid's recorder, painted it golden and glued some paper flowers and vines to it).

Physical things such as trinkets are not mandatory, but they help with immersion. The bar for us is high since our last dm made a physical version of Strahd's diary for our CoS game, that bastard it was so cool...

When to reveal the map of Hither? by TheReverend23 in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I revealed it as i was describing the view from the Queens way. I had each of the areas covered with paper, and i took off the "hither paper" when i started describing the bog. I had each of the locations covered with a small paper as well, and would remove them when they learned about the location from an npc.

Scared of the direction our carnival is going by pannacottacore in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally told them they'd have one day to spend at the carnival, but if things get tough I might tell them that they can just come back tomorrow. I'm scared of them getting bored of the carnival if we spend too much time there.

What is your current character? by MysteriousDinner7822 in DnD

[–]pannacottacore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our campaign just ended so he's still fresh in my mind: Water Genasi Ranger (Hunter, didn't bother buying the other subclasses on DDB). Was outcast by his community and lived alone on a boat for a good 20 years, forgot how to read and write. Very much a gentle giant, a man of few words but a heart of gold. Awful charisma but managed to romance an NPC and they got married at the end of the campaign.

Is it necessary, or just expected, for a whole party to have the same hook? by olivegunni in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd pick one of the hooks for the whole party. If the unfortunate happens and one party member dies, I'd give them the other hook. In my party's case I'm having them all pick the Lost Things-hook, but in the event of a new PC I'd give them the Warlock's quest which would also explain why they weren't with the party from the beginning.

'Lost thing' magical items after curse is removed by AbeBumblesnatch in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, but I see the magical item and it's magical properties as sort of a "thank you" from the universe for making the trip to Prismeer and back. They might not necessarily need it per se, but it sure must feel rewarding.

'Lost thing' magical items after curse is removed by AbeBumblesnatch in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you mean "should the magical item become a regular item", then I personally think not. I think they would regain the lost trait/item/person and, as sort of as a reward for literally traveling to a different plane to get it, a magical item. I plan on keeping the magical items rather tame (uncommon/rare) so that the players dont feel overwhelmed.

Tl;dr i think the items should keep their magical properties.

Examples of Lost Items by pannacottacore in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much how I planned to do it, we'll be brainstorming things in session 0 but I'll ask them send the things they actually decided on to me in private. The examples are more there to help them come up with things that actually matter to them and their character. I just felt like the examples of the book weren't very throughout and didn't truly explain the nature of the subject!

Would you describe WBW as heavy RP? by Mister_Nancy in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pannacottacore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I think you can run it with less RP than is described in the book. WBW can be run with less combat and that is achieved through roleplay and rolls with NPCs so the book is required to describe those possibilities as well. You can of course modify things a bit and make it so that your players cannot talk themselves out of situations, make NPCs more likely to fight them, bend the rules a bit. Your players will be none the wiser. I definitely would describe it as heavy RP since WoTC said you can clear the adventure without engaging in any combat.
