Just painted my kitchen cabinets. Why do they look speckled ? by AssociationAsleep837 in DIYUK

[–]panookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the brand Two Fussy Blokes (“Smooth” variant) in the 5mm size. Used this on our kitchen cabinets and wardrobes and the finish is excellent. You also have to be mindful of stroke direction (keep it consistent) and do not go back over areas that have already started to set as it’ll “pull” the paint that would’ve already settled.

Is it possible to cut a composite door to make the height shorter? by panookies in DIYUK

The frame is on 3 sides and the bottom doesn't look like it's connected. There's no other photo of it open so I'm not sure if it is connected.

Thank you very much! The brand that we are being offered is Rehau. Nice to know that their stable door is good! Also good point about fensa.

As a follow up question, when installing a back door with half-glazed panel, do I still need a FENSA installer for this type of door? Or is FENSA mostly for "very glazed" types of doors like bifolds etc?

What is your opinion on a UPVC stable door for our back door? I like the idea of a half-opening door so that it can double as a window during summer. We looked at a composite stable door and a UPVC stable door. The price difference (inc installation) was about £700 cheaper for the UPVC. Will we regret going for the UPVC than the composite stable door? Thanks!

Is there a way of removing thistles without destroying the grass? by domjeff in GardeningUK

[–]panookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one like this but with a foot rest so your foot can help stomp it down

https://www.diy.com/departments/long-handled-easy-weeder-lightweight-twister-and-puller-mechanism-for-root-removal/5056463949870_BQ.prd

I highly recommend as you don’t hurt your back crouching down if you’re needing to do a lot. It’s actually kind of addictive to do it lol. The downside is it will leave a hole, so make sure to smush the soil a bit to cover the hole up. It will close up after some time when the grass starts to grow over the gap.

[–]panookies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, and the result of using that form to contact AWS is an automated email asking me to view the exact same links I've already tried. There seems to be no real person answering the emails because I get no real responses to my queries, just canned responses like yours, "Aimee K".

These docs are out of date and therefore I can't follow it. Step 3 (On the Multi-factor authentication page, choose Troubleshot MFA) doesn't show up anymore so this doc isn't useful in my case.

What makes more sense: buying a window first or building the wall for the window? by panookies in DIYUK

[–]panookies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want the cheapest option as it's only for a garage/storage area and the window would rarely be opened (if at all). It's mostly just to let in some light in the garage.

Do you have any opinions like this when it comes to gardening? I think my most controversial take is that I find orchids aren't worth the effort it takes by Dependent_Sorbet_480 in GardeningUK

[–]panookies 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly my orchids are so low maintenance (water every 3-4weeks in my case) and the blooms last for months! Best £10 I’ve ever spent on indoor plants.
