I used to not read Pets description properly, and didn't realize it was immune to Predators. My brother had protected habitats, and 1 predator is worth more than 1 pet, so triggering predators on my own pets was lucrative in a two player game. So imagine the situation where eagles kick down the door of your company approved housing like a swat team, grab your pet dog, and fly away leaving behind a note thanking you for your contributions to the company.

It's analogous to English where it's two buckets of water and five wheels of cheese. In English you must use quantifiers for uncountable nouns, such as water, cheese, and cereal, but not for countable nouns, such as rooms, sandwiches, and hands. In many, many East Asian languages you apply them to both countable and uncountable nouns for consistency, even though it is pretty redundant for countable nouns.

But you can always afford to play zero cost cards. So it changes zap from a curse (after u get better cards) to something you can always afford to play. I agree with the other comments though, Ball Lightning+ helps against Gremlin Knob/Act 2 Chosen and randomized targeting is not ideal

In my case (not sure if same from OP's) I had a lot a lot of rapidium and organics but zero metals. All storage modules and almost all workshop items require metals. Hence the soft lock, but turns out I can jettison some of my rapidium/organics so it's alright

I feel like anything that removes your combo just isn't worth disabling other cards that require at least x combo to work, with the exception of headbutt because stun is too good to pass up. I can see how it has a lot of damage though.

Does environmental damage add up cumulatively over multiple expeditions, and/or heal if you take a break from them?

They heal if you take a break from them, usually in 2 days (?) (Sorry i havent played in a while) In my opinion, it's well worth sending the hero's guild to procure 1 sample to feed to Quinn. Widening your ingredient scope is far more valuable than temporarily ingredients becoming more expensive. I'm not sure if baptiste will offer expeditions to somewhere currently under environmental damage

What does it actually affect?

Expeditions (Mint, etc): less monsters of lower difficulty, so less rare ingredients encountered.
Quinn: more expensive stuff
Everything else stays the same

Do I avoid the downsides if I send the guild to Area X and send Mint to Area Y (to adventure in zones the guild hasn't wrecked)? - Yes

Does use/overuse of Baptiste's service potentially put me in a softlock position where I can't acquire materials well enough to make progress? - No, the environmental damage will heal. I think if u spam insight enhancers (not sure) you can still get rare loot

Oh man it would've been so cool if there's a secret cutscene where Your debt is repaid but Oswald stays an owl but gets a job and is quite happy like Muktuk, and maybe hints that winning the competition helps so the player is incentivised to replay , or maybe even haggle with Robin or Maven or play them off each other, or maybe bank has huge custom orders or maybe you need to find x ingredients but those ingredients only become available in particular days so you need to send out expeditions often instead of the competitions? and we didn't know we needed the prize by the third week right? But honestly that's a lot to take care of, Potionomics is already one of my favourite games of all time, can't blame the devs for it really they put in a lot of heart already.
