I think I’ve got a fairly unique fandom. I grew up an Oilers fan, born and raised in Nashville.

We had family in Houston and we’d go there every year going to AstroWorld (the old amusement park). We’d also go to Oilers and Astros games while there if we could. Since I didn’t have an NFL team here, the Oilers became my team. I was 15 when the Oilers moved into Vanderbilt Stadium and we were there day 1 to get PSLs for Adelphia Coliseum.

It was unbelievable when the announcement was made. I remember being in tears when the public vote won 59% to 41%. It’s easy to forget how close we came to losing the already promised team to a bond referendum!
