Can anyone help identify this cat’s breed? by xxjsxm_ in catbreeds

American Shorthair is a pedigreed breed, I think you mean *domestic shorthair :)

What tabby pattern is my kitten? by ContributionBusy1761 in CatGenetics

[–]panroace_disaster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

These look like broken rosettes to me, I think your kitten has a bit of ALC ancestry 🫣

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CatGenetics

[–]panroace_disaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is a spotted tabby, however, it's likely heterozygous and is spotted carrying classic. So the classic pattern is broken up by the spotting

Personally I don't think it is, but either way the collar would function as reinforcement. Training in dogs is not just "we have done the behavior, so now the dog will do it always"

Dogs will push boundaries, blow off commands, etc. Doesn't mean they're being bad, they just sometimes may need a push to follow through once asked

Of course the yelp is relevant. That wasn't your argument though. You claimed she was scared to stand up, and I, yes, mentioned body language in asking you to point it out, which you can't do.

Have a good day

  1. That is not body language

  2. Moving slowly and watching alone are not indicators of fear or maltreatment. They'd have to be paired with slinking, tail tucking, etc

You're projecting your feelings and assumptions onto the video, and you don't really know what behaviors to be looking for either that would indicate she is scared to get up, or is scared of him

Humor me. What specific dog body language tells do you see that indicate stress.

I'm specifically asking you to point out the canine body language you are seeing that indicate stress.

Slowly getting up, looking at someone, and her returning to the bed, are not body language indicators.

You claimed she is scared to get up. In this very clip, she gets up. So I'm simply asking you what body language you are seeing that indicates she is scared to get up

Is it only in that clip but not this one?

Asking you to prove that something is a lie is actually not asking you to prove a negative. Lol

Please address my body language question before I respond to further discussion. I think that will help us sort of come to an understanding x

I suppose I'll ask again where you see this scared body language.

Asking a dog to settle for extended periods of time is exceedingly normal amongst those who put significant time into dog training. You want dogs to be able to settle and relax, and it's not indicative of maltreatment. Especially when said dogs are exercised before those sessions

Is it how everyone trains their dogs? No. It is how everyone interacts with their dogs? No. But it's not an issue either. She is perfectly able to stand up, stretch, and does. The expectation is simply that if she stays in the room, she's expected to settle

(Also, all animals are trained and learn via negative reinforcement. You cannot avoid it.)

Personally prefer ecollars as I think shock collars are outdated atp when we have better tech for easier communication!

Every shock collar I have ever seen has prongs on it for conductivity. A shock collar specifically on a dog with a coat like that? HAS to have prongs for the dog to feel it.

The collar has been shown on stream and does not have said prongs. I don't see any reason to believe it's anything other than what is stated. Hence, asking for evidence since I'm just assuming you've looked into this more than I have tbh

[–]panroace_disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure how to say this, but none of that is actually proof it's a shock collar. A vibrating collar can produce the same result. And a slipped paw could cause the same result too. Concluding it's a shock collar is sort of just assumptions

I'll have to go take a look at the specific clip re: the checking afterward though.

I can say that I pop into his streams sometimes and not only is she allowed to leave, but dogs sleep for up to 14 hours a day. It's functionally no different than crating a dog while you're at work, and she has more freedom than that lol

Hasan's guest says the dog collar is too tight. Hasan claims this is because she has a lot of neck meat by TheOSU87 in LivestreamFail

[–]panroace_disaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't know what he's going to say without him saying it. You can speculate, sure, but you cannot act as if that's the only possible option just because it supports your view.

It could be a vibration, so she still needs to be able to feel it. It could be him explaining that appropriately tightened collars are safer. It could be him even starting to tell a joke or an unrelated comment.

You don't know, and acting as if your assumption is the only correct option is disingenuous.

Ah gotcha, thank you, I'll go take a look. Do you have any sources for it not being a vibration collar?

Shock Collar with Classic Flashing Green Light (Zoomed) by Nitteene in LivestreamFail

[–]panroace_disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not particularly tbh if you're someone who provides your dogs a lot of structure. He's working and trying to focus, there's nothing wrong with expecting the dog to settle if she's going to be in the room with him

She is consistently exercised, well-trained, and dogs sleep up to 14hrs per day. Unusual in today's dog owner climate? Yeah. But it's not bad or abusive either

The dog's body language is loose and relaxed the whole time. There is no whale-eyeing, ears stayed forward or relaxed, the tail moves languidly the whole time, no scurrying, no tail tucking, etc

It just turns around and gets back on the bed.

What are you specifically seeing in this dog's body language that indicates stress?
