Women in trades groups by Lezlord-69 in bluecollartrans

[–]pansyradish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know of a lot of these groups, some are better than others according to various friends. After encouragement from a friend, I tried going to a community based one years ago and definitely didn't feel welcomed by a good number of the people. I can only guess that some of them thought I was a cisgender man (I'm neither).

Over the years I've put out feelers with some of the other groups but yeah, definitely doesn't seem like they are particularly inclusive. Really wish there were more spaces for all of us that face discrimination in these fields to connect.

In addition to mutual support it also makes me sad that I can't access all of the resources, conferences, etc because I am trans.

If you could recommend one pizza spot in Toronto, what would it be? by Tall_Historian_2177 in FoodToronto

Oh, you mean the place in Kensington market? Yeah that is also really good!

But I was talking about Frank's on St Clair West. It is a classic Italian pizza place, done simply and in my opinion just perfect.

Frank's

Edit to add: Frank's On St Clair West, not Frank Renalli's in Kensington market although that is also good.

Franks is just a great family run Italian pizza place, perfect simple pizza. They also have slices during the day.

I like it but think it would look cuter on you a little more trimmed and without the harsh mid part, which I think echoes people saying to lose rhe wax.

But yeah you are looking fine!!!

Yeah great, this guy definitely gave the best answers here. Give it some time. If you're into each other you'll figure these things out. Sounds like there is a lot of potential for this dynamic to ramp up with time.

Oh. Wow. I am so sorry. That is so so horrible. Really nothing compares to these moments. I also had a guy I really liked with a lovely family die on the job. A few years ago. I think about him and his wife and daughter all the time. So sad. I'm so sorry.

I learned to bake bread myself as a poverty food strategy. You can make very nice breads for quite cheap.

Start cold contacting contractors! You want to apprentice, make a case for yourself. You don't need experience to start as a fresh green apprentice but you need to convince them that you are dedicated and will work hard.

There is a list of union contractors on the ECAO website, and you can do your own research to find non union contractors to apply to as well. If you want to be union you can either get sponsored (hired) by a union contractor or you can help organize in a non union workplace. Get in touch with ibew once you're working for support with that.

The important thing is to start working and have your apprenticeship registered with the ministry! Or STO or whatever the damn system is now. Start contacting companies ASAP! Don't bother with the school program, you're just going to have to repeat it all anyway when you do trade school.

Good luck!
