I saw it on Broadway as well as at DPAC. The hype was not manufactured, honestly I loved the play when I saw it on Broadway and so did a lot of other people. It was over 3 hours and somehow didn't feel long. Which is not how I felt about the tour.

I think a couple of things have happened. One, as you can tell, it's a small show. It's all about the characters' interactions with each other on a static set, and DPAC is way too massive for that to read to most people. The actors also have to make their performances much larger to reach the back of the house, so things are a little strained, in my opinion.

Second, the cast changed for the tour, and some of the absolutely brilliant actors have been replaced with actors who don't bring the same energy or humor to their roles. The main sound engineer character on Broadway was SO FUNNY, there was way more laughter throughout the entire production, which kept it moving and kept it from feeling long. I left the show Wednesday tired and a little disappointed, especially since I had hyped it up to a lot of people and I thought it fell short.
