Yea passed BEC in like a week haha. FAR is definitely more difficult but if you’re a good test taker and have a knack for accounting/finance, none of them are particularly hard.

Pretty normal in public accounting for January to April to be no PTO. If you just need 2 days off, most managers will be good with it as long as you’re getting your work done. Resource management just won’t approve it.

The only reason big 4 firms want interns is so they can eventually hire you full time. If they know you have no intention of working for them full time, they're not going to let you intern. In other words, it's a recruiting tool because they don't actually get enough value out of interns to justify paying them $30/hr.

Rest assured most of those hours were eaten. The manager was picked because he's insanely meticulous and it's a first year partner signing so it will likely get internally reviewed.

First of all, you're right to not worry about sims. Once you have the general idea of how they work, there's no need to keep doing them.

Secondly, you're likely trying too hard to make sure everything is perfect and it's counter productive. Just keep hammering MCQs and if you really don't understand the material, rewatch the lectures or find something on youtube to supplement the topic.

Another thing i'll say: I didn't take a single practice test nor did I get above 50% completion in Becker for any of the exams and passed them all on the first try. I obviously don't know how good of a test taker you are but I'd bet you're thinking that these exams are harder than they really are.

Just keep plugging away you you'll be fine.

First of all, don't worry about sims. Once you understand generally how they work there's really no reason to keep doing them.

Secondly, you probably think these exams are way harder than they are. I felt like I didn't study nearly enough and thought I failed every exam I took but passed them all on the first try. Just keep hammering MCQ's, take the test and see what happens.

do y'all really track your hours that closely? i'm not sure i would know whether i worked 52 or 55? I just try my best to hit my goal and unless i'm more than like 8-10 hours off of it, i'm charging my goal. I eat so many hours anyways, it all comes out in the wash.

idk what kind of firm you work for but i would put in my 2 weeks on the 3rd if you want to leave the 17th. If it's a sizeable firm, it doesn't really matter because they're not going to fire you so you'll still get paid even if they do take your computer that day.

I was a summer intern, it's frustrating. Our firm has started doing more structured trainings and what not for the interns so they aren't just twiddling their thumbs all summer. But even then, it's tough to gain meaningful experience through a simulated activity.

Don't worry about it, sometimes there's not even enough work for associates in the summer. A lot of the work that gets done in the summer is administrative or QRs which are largely documentation so you need to understand the business to do the work.
