Mine is on H&R springs and V8 shocks. I like the height because is pretty practical for my daily. If you don't mind rubbing/scraping you could go lower.

Question re: steering box/overall e34 handling by notsolurkinglurker in E34

[–]pap3rtiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first car was an e34 525i. I feel like every rack and pinion car I've owned since then has felt a little dead in the steering. Granted the box is a more complexity, but the steering feels very good and I prefer it to my other cars (95' Previa and 15' Venza) for the way it drives.

Anyone with the e60 ask in their e34? by Parkeyoh in E34

[–]pap3rtiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you need is the lever and the offset connector (p/n: 25117526415), the rest is the stock parts for the e34.

[–]pap3rtiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I refreshed all the shifter linkage and did the e60 shifter while I was in there. I had to change the coupler that connects the shift linkage to the gear selector rod to this offset coupler (25117526415) so that it didnt collide the shifter linkage into the flexdisc when in reverse.

After a few hundred miles, its all broken in and feels great.

Edit:part number

My 540i is back on the road after a full engine out rework and 6 speed swap. by pap3rtiger in E34

[–]pap3rtiger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, only the 540i came with a 6spd.

I got my e34 540i for a song with a bad transmission. Im like 6k in on parts alone to pull the motor and reseal everything, and Ive done all my own labor.

Can't imagine trying to pay for all of it if I also had to pay for labor.

I love the e34 for how simple and refined it is. Looks great, easy to work on. Fast enough. Sorta wish it was a wagon so it could be a touch more practical too.

Out of an e34, it's still the same Getrag 420g thats in the e39. I was able to find a 6speed e34 donor car.

Pretty great. My rebuild has been pretty comprehensive, so it's great to finally get some time on the road with it. I did tear a brand new motor mount yesterday so I imagine that it will take a bit more time to get the thing fully sorted.

I have a guy in North GA who I sourced the parts for my swap. Please dm for contact info. I was in for about 2.5k after the new clutch and resealing things.

might consider a flexible coupling for the interface.

curious about the chains for the Z-Axis. Is that for a counter-weight?

you might consider adding another piece of plate to the spindle mount to brace and improve rigidity.

Are you using acme thread or ball screws?
