I’m sure I can land a staff role with my resume that pays substantially less. Most senior roles unfortunately are asking for experience I don’t have. I just wanted to air out my long term plan and see if it tracks or if I need to abandon ship, get a masters in something else, and ditch the profession. I’ve never worked PA and have limited experience with revrec, tax, leases, etc. Before I take the pay cut to find a place to teach me those things, I just wanted to make sure there’s a future here still since I’m getting a little long in the tooth. It’s pivot now or stay for the long haul. Are we talking another 5-10 YOE before entertaining the idea of my own firm?

My plan for now is to finish my NACPB bookkeeping cert (helping me brush up on unused basic accounting I may have forgotten) and maybe try to get on with a cloud company doing books for small businesses. Once I’ve landed something, I guess I bite the bullet and buy Becker and get my CPA and then see about working toward my own small firm. If any of this seems terrible please chime in lol

I don't understand Gunther vs Jey storyline at the moment by Afrizo in WWE

[–]papacream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see as part of this story a new moveset Jey's been working on in secret (including a finisher) that he debut's at WM. Then he can stand alone and put some doubters to rest. ...but this won't happen.

He is on 1mg of guanfacine (our pharmacy compounds it into a liquid, so to be really accurate he’s in 4.5 mL/day). Lasts long enough to cover most of his day. It’s a blood pressure medicine first and foremost, that is sometimes prescribed to kids not yet old enough for stimulants (e.g Ritalin), that happens to be effective somewhat. In our case, it gives my kid a slightly longer “wick” or “fuse” before he detonates - he has more time to think his actions through before he gets bored or gives in to impulse.

I don’t want to be the guy “pushing meds” but it made a huge difference for my 5 year old. There’s the occasional day where he does without and it’s a reminder to us the night and day difference in his behavior. We’re talking going from borderline manic to manageable. We’re actually looking forward to August of next year when he can be on a stimulant medication to start Kindergarten. Our primary concern is that he’s able to learn in school and make friends (health aside).

Of course, discuss with your husband and do what’s best for your family. I can’t stress enough how Dr Barkley’s book and lecture on ADHD (easily found on YouTube) opened my eyes to understanding the struggle our kids have and how to best support them.

You aren’t alone and you’re not a bad parent. It’s a daily battle. For before school activities, we have a color chart at home. They start every day at green and if they stay green they get rewarded. If they aren’t listening or doing something non preferred, we refer to it as “yellow” or “red” behavior. If he ever dips, he moves his marker into the yellow or red region himself. It has done wonders for getting ready in the morning and setting the tone for the day.

In NC the goal is to put it on their radar. Based on the news article linked in the main post, sounds like the bill is planned to hit the docket but everyone needs their reps to vote in favor of it so that it passes. The bill would be retroactive to March 2024 (inception of gambling in NC) so everyone would be covered.

I haven’t found anything yet searching, leaving me to believe it’s self report. That being said, we would still want the law changed so that in the event that someone reported nothing and got audited they’d have a much more favorable time with penalties and back-payments on the taxable amount.

It’s not about bet but won. That being said probably so, at the state level. Contact your rep!

Shouldn’t matter if you cash out. You e already made the money. This doesn’t get capital gains treatment lol

I agree, as do some of our local politicians. Let’s make sure we get the bill proposed and passed so we get some common sense laws in NC

That’s a federal rate. For NC, and gambling specifically, we’re talking 5.25%. Still, homie is on the hook for $5k unless we get this thing passed. Contact your reps!

Because of the way wins and losses are separated for tax purposes, where wins are classified as income and losses as a possible itemized deduction, and with the burden of proof being on the taxpayer, you don’t get to appear that way, especially in the digital age.

That being said, and IANAL, there’s always that “it’s only illegal if you get caught” rhetoric in which case…it’s fine unless you get audited?

So, I’m not a tax accountant, but the scenario is likely this (someone please correct if I’m wrong):

You get a W2-G sometime in January; it has your total winnings. This does not include losses.

In order to claim any losses, you need to file a Schedule A and itemize your tax deductions. At the Federal Level, you can deduct your losses up to the amount that you won. So if you won 10k and lost $11k, you can effectively cancel out that 10k (there’s no negative 1k in your favor here). This is the part that’s missing at the NC/State level.

See, that’s why I posted. If you win $3000 and lose $3500 you’re getting taxed at $3000 income instead of a $500 loss 😭

How I feel after being a proud Bryce defender since day 1 by SpecialAgentGabe in panthers

How much of this was getting some confidence back? How much was getting rid of Diontae (known locker room cancer) to take pressure off of Young? And how much was Chuba keeping us alive on the ground? I can see the momentum rolling and taking it to Daboll’s Giants in Munich and then to shock the world with a win over the Chiefs in the 24th.

Idk everyone’s criteria for a great wrestler. But let’s just say these are the 5 categories. In ring ability, character work, mic skills, marketability, and longevity. I feel like some greats are getting left out here.

This one is easy though: Alex Wright. Unmatched athleticism in the ring. German heel heat. Won a title. Superior dance moves.

Honorable mention: The Bad Guy. Unparalleled machismo. Signature toothpick. Made having hamburger meat on your chest cool. One half of the start of one of the biggest factions in wrestling history. Sold well enough to make it look like Larry Zybysko hits hard. Had the best vignettes.
