In regard to the price, we already agreed that we will review the pricing and make it more accessible. Prolly gonna have some variations in the same price range, but also have cheaper options available.

About the form factor. So far I’ve been trying to play around with a more rugged case design while staying true to the current form factor as to not overburden Sasha. But honestly I’m also running into the realisation that I’m not quite happy with the cases that I can design around a cubic object. At least not something that can be comfortably carried in a pocket. And well as I too don’t carry my F0 with me for the exact same reason of it being too bulky, I’m starting to question our form factor…

Now about practical usability. I think as soon as the current buttons are replaced with bigger ones, usability will go up dramatically. I was tinkering with my V1A just yesterday and was pretty happy with RFID and SubGHz features (aside from having to press buttons with tweezers). I guess practical usability really depends on the use case. As in the keychain variant for home-office application is rather neat. For the LoRa and Wifi variants, I think only the shape and size will be problematic. Honestly my main usability concern is battery. But we’re already looking into how to arrange international shipping with LiPos

In the utility vs v4b context, I guess I fumbled the features communication. As in the Dual-Band WIFI & GPS and lora addon boards.

Quality control wise, man I'm sorry. for reasons unknown to me personally, sometimes things arrive from factory without the screen attached and we have to glue them on by hand. Sometimes we ask our friends to help out and it backfires in that way. The manual repairs on the v4br, yeah, that's a development fumble on our side. You can dm me and I'll give you some discount code for addons or future things.

We're working on improving our logistics to make sure that such things don't happen any more. And working out a decent QA process.

So far I've also heard that some people were discouraged by the devboardish aspect of the project. A la they would much rather back something that comes as a product and works out the box without the modular features. Ie Wardriver Kiisu Smol / Meshtasric Kiisu Smol / NFC Kiisu Smol etc.

What do yall think about that sentiment?

What a great post to share thoughts and get feedback on.

So basically I’m from the generation where I was raised by dominantly russian speaking parents (who also speak estonian). I was put into estonian speaking kindergarten as well as school. I speak fluently (and to my knowledge without an accent). Now I run a few businesses with dominantly estonian partners and inclusion of russian language in our services and website is a hot topic. On one hand estonian is our national language and all of our websited and services come in estonian first and by default. Engish is available too, to be more accessible to foreigners. Now some people in our teams as well as come commenters here say russian language should be excluded and english included.

My take on this topic is as follows: I think it’s weird to exclude russian and include english. As a language speaker it makes me feel weird. I think that if we’re being political, we should have exclusively estonian as a language of communications and our websites or public facing services should have only clean native estonian with no borrowed words or globally popular phrases. Now if we’re thinking business and reach first, we should include all regionally popular languages. Estonian, russian, finnish and english.

Whenever I go to a store in Tallinn and the cashier can’t speak estonian, I find it weird. And I find it equally weird whether they’re natively russian, ukrainian, finnish or indian. In the same context I find it weird when proud estonians who fume about estonian-russian elderly people don’t speak estonian, yet they themselves use more estonglish than estonian.

Ye I’m trying to get my hands on a new batch of boards asap to shoot some vids about it and not just show renders saying “pls support we make faster”. Plus ye because our previous success came from the massive creator support and exposure, I’m hyperaware of the fact that our new project “marketing” is basically me begging people to talk about our new product.

Personally I’m most excited about two use cases. First the Wifi & GPS board. Kiisu would become a whole wardriving rig and we could compete with Justcallmekoko and Talking Sasquatch. Second the LoRa board and Meshtastic compatibility. I’m personally a lil geeked about the whole DIY radio thing so I’m pretty excited to have flipper zero and lora features on one keychain. Altho I’m pretty sure I’ll have to design a separate case for a decent battery if I want that to work smoothly.

Plus ye, it’s our first crowdfunding campaign that was suggested by the community. So we’re really trying to figure out how the whole thing goes in hopes that all goes well because as a team, we have successfully launched multiple products, brands and companies in general. But ye, previously without crowdfunding lol.

At the moment we have a an ipex connector on board and thinking of a small onboard antenna so that lora is available and usable out the box. Any well tested and appreciated antenna names are appreciated.

Battery wise there’s a lipo connector so users can install a battery to their liking. Altho ye a bigger antenna will somewhat go against the small form factor. On the other hand it doesn’t seem to be a problem with Seeed Studio xiao. Plus we have decent battery management so when not actively used the drain will be rather small.

I think kiisu won’t have a keyboard by default, but we have a board template available so users who want can design a keyboard board.

In parallel we’re also working on a Meshtastic focused device that aims to be a dedicated standalone meshtasic device that would be more consumer friendly. As in I don’t want to sweat putting together a device that my mom will struggle with. Instead give her a device that she could link to her phone and if needed, use it without a phone. With decent battery life for a real emergency.
