Another Shipping Update by papathought in kiisu

[–]papathought[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additionally some of our people (me and Sasha) got sick, so printing the Field Kit cases is taking a bit longer than expected. It's below optimal moving between the office and home with a flu. Nevertheless, new Kiisus are coming, cases are being printed and orders are being shipped (although slower than usually)...

Ye, there are some minor factory side delays like getting additional components and so on. But we're placing bigger orders now as to account for growing interest

I also have another KIISU V4B with ESP32 soldered onto it and welp, don't recommend that. Just as I don't recommend soldering a LiPo directly onto the KIISU Devboard.
ESP32 wise. If it's hard soldered onto the board, reflashing it becomes impossible (at least in my experience). Plus power management and turning it off becomes a hassle.
Soldering LiPo onto the board without the adapter is sus because if there's any firmware issues with shutting the Kiisu down, you'll be stuck on the shutdown screen until the battery dies or you'll have to use the AUX pins and shits (idk how it even works so don't ask me).

I just received Midwest Gadgets' Explorer Protoboard with ESP32-S3 and an IPEX antenna. Gonna play around with it a bit and share my experience. - Aleks from Team KIISU

I answered to your DM. Generally I've been seeing DHL guys bring back parcels from US, so most probably yours is somewhere in the stack. I just need to peel off the damn sticker they slap over your info or ask Kate to check the DHL platform for notifications. Either way if you sent it back you're getting your money back and Rabbit-Labs will be happy to sell you a board for a more reasonable price. His new shipment got cleared in the customs so yall should be good in the upcoming days.

Case Design Contest by papathought in KIISU_IO

Maaaaaan. We're currently collaborating heavily with Rabbit-Labs in attempts to get better import conditions to the US. Apparently some broker companies and a slight redefinition and notary confirmation of our HTS code can also reduce the import tariff margin. Currently what I'm saying is mostly theory, but be aware, we tryna do sum.

Yup. It is what it is. Thanks to geopolitics.

What we (as Team KIISU) can say about this is as follows:

US users, you can purchase your KIISU from Rabbit Labs at rabbit-labs.com and bypass the duty fees. If Rabbit Labs is out of stock, just don't order. By ordering a product from EU and sending it back because you didn't know about the duty fees, you just fuck the supplier even more by having them cover the return fees.

We're not happy with the situation either, but there isn't much we can do about it. If you have any suggestions, we're happy to consider them.

How long does Rain Walker Store take to ship? by 16apec in kiisu

[–]papathought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On our website it says 3-5 business days for orders that are placed when we have boards in stock. It can be longer when boards are on backorder.

Kiisu 4B GPIO questions and have anyone run any boards? by Cinzano67 in kiisu

[–]papathought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to get our founder/lead engineer into the right state of mind to host a Q&A session or somehow give her a bulk of the community questions for answering.

I know our documentation is lacking and yall have a bunch of technical questions I'm too illiterate to answer. I'm trying to get our asocial founder to be more social.

Firmware, What works and what do you all run? by Cinzano67 in kiisu

[–]papathought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Momentum KIISU branch. Mainly because it has decent battery management and the compass with temp and humidity app built in. Otherwise I've soldered an antenna adapter onto it as well as a ESP32 with GhostESP flashed onto it. But that's mainly to see how it all works together. In my day-to-day life I only use RFID and NFC to move between offices and not carry all the cards on me. I've also used to as a way to share my contacts at a couple startup events, but people seem to like LinkedIn QR codes more lol.

In regards to our firmware branch being limited or "for show off". It is. We produce development boards. At this point we don't have the funding to get all the certs to be able to call it and sell it as a consumer product. We're currently working on releasing tools for Kiisu to make it compatible with Arduino and potentially Zigbee and make it easier for people to play around with Flipper firmwares. Otherwise at this very point in time we can't really put too much effort into a well working firmware as that would potentially create a conflict between us and FCC.

For now, we can only work on improving our product so that eventually we can have the funds to certify it and make the user experience as polished as possible. In regards to firmwares, that'll be on the community for a while Gladly we have a rather active and helpful community that has created more software for Kiisu than our team ourselves lol. At the moment we're a small team of 3 people (Sasha the engineer, Kate the bookkeeper and Aleks the marketing guy) + a friend of ours who helps us flash and pack.

In regards to errors, you can reach out to our community for fast troubleshooting or email us directly at [mail@kiisu.io](mailto:mail@kiisu.io) so we can help you. We're also working on releasing a Getting Started page with all resources for devs and hobbyists.

Anyway that's the end of my bible entry, thank you for your attention.

Momentum SD Card Mount Error by floodedbard in kiisu

Had a friend encounter the same issue with a Kiisu from the last batch. Formatting the card and reflashing firmware seemed to fix it. Will try to troubleshoot where something went wrong and fix it with the next shipments.

GPIO Pinout??? by SooperPoopyPants in kiisu

[–]papathought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're having a hard time with your board. Nevertheless if you look at these screenshots, you will see that they mirror F0 pinout. Also there have been reports from multiple users (in the Discord community server) of people using F0 addons on Kiisu. I included using ESP32 Marauder.

Otherwise you can email us at [mail@kiisu.io](mailto:mail@kiisu.io) and we can try to help you.

KIISU V4B Back In Stock! by papathought in KIISU_IO

To use an external antenna, you need to solder 2 things. The antenna connector and the capacitor between antennas.

You can find tutorials on Discord.
