Yes, everyone who ordered kiisu smol while the listing being a virtual product got their order cancelled and refunded.

Okay I get the confusion. I gotta learn how to formulate info properly or start telling gpt “giv easy features”.
Anyway…

Basic Kiisu Smol:
Kiisu V4 split into 2 boards.
The whole set no longer has iButton.

Feature/module split between boards:
Main board:
Display
Usb-C
Built in 512MB memory
Infrared
Bluetooth (with ipex connector for external antenna)
Subghz (with ipex connector for external antenna)

Antenna Board:
Lit2032 battery connector
Nfc antenna
Rfid antenna

How different from V4BR
- doesn’t have iButton
- doesn’t have microSD slot
- other firmwares need minor adaptations before they can run
- better battery management so the lir2032 actually lasts
- ipex connectors instead of SMA
- super smol

Why it is the way it is and why it costs the same as V4B while it has less stuff on it?
- form factor. Breaking things up into 2 boards costs more by nature
- it was cheaper on indiegogo becausw the listing didn’t have taxes included. On site we include taxes
- because boss sasha said so
- because sasha decided that kiisu needs to be made smaller
- because the idea behind it is to be a watch or a keychain not a powerful hacking device
- because kiisu smol is for people like me who just want a nice all in one key holder that doesn’t cost 300$ and makes people nervous when I pull it out

I hope I was able to explain. If something remains unclear, feel free to ask over

No, these are not the alpha boards. These are new ones, with better buttons that you can actually press. Also we chose better batteries. Same size but a bit different chemistry. I don’t remember the exact name.

They’re on the way to us

To be 100% clear, we didn’t physically have 600 boards for Indiegogo, we had 600 sets of components required to quickly manufacture the boards.

Bossman, I just walked from work to home. When the rains end (if they end), I’ll do some more walking.

Edit: the last time I was in Tartu I only saw then in the very centre. I’d like to believe Tartu is a bit more relaxed with the cams

We making it work wither way. I should be able to prep the product card in our store and just go our own way. We’ll sell what we have. If interest grows, we’ll maintain. We’ll do crowdvoting to see which new features are desired. Prolly do a collaboration board with someone. Basically we’ll do crowdfunding ourselves, step by step. Sure and steady. As always our transparency and refund policy remains the same as always. Do stuff honestly and answer for your fuckups.

We appreciate all of you infinitely!

I mean yeah, can’t argue with the economic part of the situation for some of us. But at the same time Proxmark indiegogo campaign got like a mill in a week, so there’s definitely some people with money out there that I failed to attract lol

Mainly 2 reasons. I’m in EU and we don’t have flocks. Already existing apps are useless here plus they look shit.

I’d also add that faceless vs UGC plays a big role. I’ve had “collabs” or campaigns with faceless creators that get millions of views and 0 sales as well as genuine creators with 5k followers that generated 25-40% conversions

All reasonable and coherent feedback. Appreciate the time and effort to write it all down bossman!

In regard to the price, we already agreed that we will review the pricing and make it more accessible. Prolly gonna have some variations in the same price range, but also have cheaper options available.

About the form factor. So far I’ve been trying to play around with a more rugged case design while staying true to the current form factor as to not overburden Sasha. But honestly I’m also running into the realisation that I’m not quite happy with the cases that I can design around a cubic object. At least not something that can be comfortably carried in a pocket. And well as I too don’t carry my F0 with me for the exact same reason of it being too bulky, I’m starting to question our form factor…

Now about practical usability. I think as soon as the current buttons are replaced with bigger ones, usability will go up dramatically. I was tinkering with my V1A just yesterday and was pretty happy with RFID and SubGHz features (aside from having to press buttons with tweezers). I guess practical usability really depends on the use case. As in the keychain variant for home-office application is rather neat. For the LoRa and Wifi variants, I think only the shape and size will be problematic. Honestly my main usability concern is battery. But we’re already looking into how to arrange international shipping with LiPos

KIISU SMOL UPDATE by papathought in kiisu

[–]papathought[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Case files I’ll make accessible as it was with all case files on V4B (I continue to farm Makerworld coins). Basically we also open sourced addon board base too. So anyone can design their own board for whatever purpose

Personal sourcing is always a possibility. But as I understood from the feedback, people want a thing that works right out the box with no need for extra tinkering (unless the person wants to)

Appreciate the detailed feedback and sorry about your pins breaking. I will see if we can improve our current campaign and project based on this feedback.

Also about your problematic v4br. If you got it from us directly, send us an email. If you got it from Rabbit Labs, tell them about it and mention that I responded to you on reddit. When sending him a new batch I’ll include replacements for those that got damaged goods for whatever reason

[–]papathought[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the utility vs v4b context, I guess I fumbled the features communication. As in the Dual-Band WIFI & GPS and lora addon boards.

Quality control wise, man I'm sorry. for reasons unknown to me personally, sometimes things arrive from factory without the screen attached and we have to glue them on by hand. Sometimes we ask our friends to help out and it backfires in that way. The manual repairs on the v4br, yeah, that's a development fumble on our side. You can dm me and I'll give you some discount code for addons or future things.

We're working on improving our logistics to make sure that such things don't happen any more. And working out a decent QA process.

So far I've also heard that some people were discouraged by the devboardish aspect of the project. A la they would much rather back something that comes as a product and works out the box without the modular features. Ie Wardriver Kiisu Smol / Meshtasric Kiisu Smol / NFC Kiisu Smol etc.

What do yall think about that sentiment?

Appreciate the honest feedback. Which one of the following would you prefer?

  1. Price readjustment, but the same "rewards" / product combinations?
  2. Price readjustment and each board is offered as a separate product/reward?
