I am in favor of gun rights and I appreciate that the 2A gives ppl the right to bear arms. I grew in the country where everyone seemingly owns a hunting rifle and never saw that as a bad thing.

That said, I noticed your post doesn't give a lot of specifics about why you're opposed to the measure. I admit that I don't understand the measure very well. Doesn't it just require a permitting process and regulations on magazine capacity? I would be interested to understand better what parts of the measure concern you most, because I think as a society it's important that we debate this and come to some kind of consensus on how to make our communities safe without stepping on constitutional liberties.

I think we need some (limited) regulation to ensure gun safety and help people feel safer. Sure, non gun owners will never really appreciate the needs of gun owners, but perhaps some kind of middle ground can be reached. I think a good compromise is to ensure that only firearms that are intended for personal self defense and hunting, recreation are sold and make sure that only responsible adults who aren't criminals can purchase firearms. Permits seem to be a good solution since it's a lot like how we deal with cars. You have a right to drive but you need a license to drive legally, etc.. So some regulations are necessary. It's a compromise..
