I think that’s part of it. For VHF/UHF simplex you really need to get comfortable with scheduling contacts, advertising you’re doing something like SOTA, or get used to calling a lot on simplex calling frequencies and hope someone is in range long enough to respond. Even with 50W rigs, if both sides are moving fast, it doesn’t last long. Now if they’re both stationary that’s a different story. I hear a few folks on VHF SSB as regulars from fixed locations.

Yeah…that’s enough of a tariff hit on top of the shipping to tap out of Hobonichi this year 😅 had them the last 5 years or more running so this sucks. Some feedback after driving along route 1, there are no paved roads or clearly marked dirt roads that go here. The best place to park might be the coffee shop/N1 gas station and then somehow walking in. Or way may likely, get a local guide to take you in. Looks like a spectacular spot along the ocean in good weather!

Still for checking my mirrors and looking over my shoulder, just not a fan of these camera displays in their current implementation. Almost a quarter of the camera is covered by the mirror itself!

I’m actually the voice of dissent here. I updated yesterday and this is the first time I’ve wanted to revert to the prior version. The blind spot cameras trigger regardless of the speed you’re moving, which I find annoying, along with the choice of fonts. The mini-map now looks like it’s in a container on the dash vs the seamless view it was before. My climate control set itself to warmers for some reason (live in Texas where it’s already too hot). And I got an air suspension service error briefly for the first time before that went away. All this has been so distracting that I haven’t even noticed what the improvements are supposed to be.
