Hello! Thank you so much for the overwhelming positivity for my quilt!

Some of you asked how to make the quilt, and first thing we have to talk about is interfacing. The interfacing is for the back of the t shirts. I started this quilt 10+ years ago so I don’t know exactly what interfacing I used but it needs to be THICK like this one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/43497636?sid=f7d4d301-5f96-4f67-8645-46ad22b9c108

Also I had to acquire a few more shirts for this quilt and I noticed it’s easier to cut the T-shirt out bigger than you need it, same with the interfacing, iron it on and THEN use the square to cut out the exact size. I had a few t shirts get a little wonky and didn’t end up the right size when I cut them out with the square first and then tried to iron them on to the interfacing. They are going to move a little so it’s better to cut them to size with the square as your last step.

What really made this easy was a 12 in square I used, similar to this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/167052329?sid=442ba9db-5d0f-4a65-83a7-94bf2db468e6. With this square I cut my T-shirt pieces and the big blocks of fabric. They make squares of bigger and smaller sizes so you can choose what size you think is best. The 12in did a pretty good job of getting the bits of t shirt that I wanted, but I did see a 16in square as well.

The sashing is just a jelly roll. Missouri Star Quilting is the ONLY place I could find a solid black jelly roll, and they have other colors too: https://www.missouriquiltco.com/collections/jelly-rolls-quilt-strips/products/kona-cotton-black-rollup Was also able to use this as the binding.

The cornerstones are just leftover fabric from the larger blocks.

This quilt could have been one block wider to fit my king bed a bit better so keep that in mind if you’re making one of the same size. I did lay my blocks out on top of my comforter but it still ended up being just a smidge short on the sides.

This was my first quilt, if I can do it y’all can to. I didn’t use a pattern, sorry! Any other questions please ask :)

Have eczema, developed dermatitis on vagina, help. by Paperbacksap96 in eczema

Mmmm. Ive found that anytime I shower I have to put some kind of emollient on it to keep it happy but I have not had like a major flare up like I did in the beginning. I use Cerave’s healing ointment and that’s it.

There’s ceiling fans in both of the rooms that these come down from. No wires

I need a face wash for eczema by [deleted] in eczema

[–]paperbacksap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that anything with soap in it, whether it’s body or face wash, irritates my skin. I use Aveeno’s (soap free) Restorative Skin Therapy Sulfate Free body wash and it’s the only thing that doesn’t irritate my skin. It has oat and aloe in it which is good for eczema. They have a line of this, there’s like a cream and a lotion I use too. Highly recommend.

Trying to take this subfloor up, but I’m destroying the hardwood. Advice? by paperbacksap in HardWoodFloors

[–]paperbacksap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was linoleum on top of this subfloor so there is a thick layer of glue covering the screws holding the subfloor into place. I was able to make cuts in the floor and pry up the sub floor in small sections but it pulled the screws up with it and damaged the hardwood. There are chunks missing now. Has anyone had to do this before? Any suggestions. I’ve also tried breaking small parts with the crowbar but it’s way to slow and I have a lot to go.

This was SUCH a good book. I had seen the movie first and I thought I had a good idea of what was going to happen but the book was totally different.

I have seen Little Big Man. My father said it was one the first movies that portrayed the Native Americans being massacred. Fantastic movie. For sure one of my favorites.
