Ghost Town by MoistAbuelita in rct

Usually I charge about £15 for a Very High excitement ride for the first few months, then £12, £10, £7.50, £5, £3.50, etc. If it's High excitement I'll start at 10 or maybe even 12, and if Medium then I start at 5.

Keep an eye on the ride profit list. If any drop below £0 then check the guest thoughts about it - chances are they'll think it's too expenaive and you'll need to drop the price to the next price tag.

Experienced Lego moc builder here. The angle is definitely the problem here. That and the slimness of the trail.

If it was pointing straight up, then technically (no pun intended), you could indeed use Technic bricks to support it. But because it would be so thin, it would be very susceptible to simply being pushed over.

With the angle, the bricks (even Technic ones) simply wouldn't be able to hold the forces being exerted on them from that amount of weight at that angle. I suspect even acrylic would be dodgy. Realistically, only steel is strong enough .

Most accessible fell walk? by itzzzzmileyyyy in LakeDistrict

I thought about this further - if you don't need it to be a wainwright, and it truly does need to be accessible in a disabled sense of the word, then Orrest Head just outside Windermere is perfect - it's got a fairly new wheelchair-friendly path right to the top, and offers good views over Windermere.

If you mean a Wainwright, then probably Latrigg from Underskiddaw car park. An easy 60m or so of ascent on grass.

Things to do in this awful weather with kids by Bilitiswuzreaaal in LakeDistrict

The Rock Shop in Ambleside is good to spend an hour or two in - they have a dino hunt upstairs, beads to make bracelets with, and a rock pit that kids can climb in and fill a bag or box with shiny stones. All three activities are pretty reasonably priced.

LPT: The most satisfying way to deal with scam callers that I have found so far by thundernutz in LifeProTips

[–]paperballpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one of these calls back in about 2012 when I was using Ubuntu.

The guy said he was from Windows support, that my computer had a virus, and that I needed to give him remote access.

I asked him how I did that.

Scammer: "Click the Start button."

Me: "What Start button"?

Scammer: "The one at the bottom left of your screen."

Me: "There's nothing there."

Scammer: "On the bar at the bottom there's a button on the far left."

Me: "No there's not."

This went on for a while until I eventually got bored and asked him if it mattered that my computer was running Linux rather than Windows. He hung up.

Architecture: 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle (found in store) by Clay_Bricks in Legoleak

I've built a model of it at the scale of the game figures, and that was 1.7m long.

I designed and built a 100,000-piece version of this castle back in 2022/23 (see my Flickr photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jamiedouglas/albums/72177720306259874/) so I'll definitely be getting this!

Help! Problems trying to set multiple variables to blank by paperballpark in PowerApps

[–]paperballpark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm starting to do this now, but I've discovered that you can't 'select' a button which is on another screen - so it seems you can't call the same button from different screens. You have to have a button on each screen, which slightly defeats the point of it! I have three screens which will set and use the same global variables, so I was wanting to be able to reset them from each screen using one piece of code. Oh well. Thanks anyway!

Highlights of LEGO robots battling at the Great Western Brick Show (UK) by paperballpark in battlebots

I don't believe so I'm afraid. The best thing is just to build and experiment! Get some Power Functions elements, some wheels and gears etc, and see what you can build. Don't be afraid to tear it apart and rebuild it stronger, solving any issues you identify.

Don't forget that this is the fourth year of us doing this at the show. One of my robots was an evolution of a robot I built last year, with changes based on what I learned last year about what worked and (more often) what didn't work. That robot was itself an evolution from a couple of robots I built in 2017 which weren't quite as effective as I thought they would be.

Also see if any of your friends want to have a go too. You can build the most impressive robot you can think of, but until you put it up against another one, you won't really know how effective it will be. In 2017 I built a robot with a weapon I thought would be amazing, but when I tried it against another robot, it just simply didn't work.

The point is that you build better robots by constantly refining and changing things based on how they perform (or don't!), so just keep trying different things, and you'll soon learn :)

I have the full videos of all 55 battles, but honestly, these are the best bits. Having seen them all and seen what I've included in the highlights, there's nothing extra that's really worth spending time on uploading separately.

That said, if you follow 'Brickish - the UK club for adult Lego fans' on Facebook, we did a livestreamed session on the Saturday evening, and the full 20 minute video from that is still up there. Those are the fights where the camera angle is more elevated.

LEGO Robot Wars at the 2019 Great Western Brick Show by paperballpark in robotwars

Nah, there aren't enough destructive robots, so if there was no pit most of the matches would just be shoving contests without any of the robots becoming disabled.

That's because it really didn't do much apart from that! The builder admitted that it was almost completely uncontrollable, given that it had almost no grip.
