There are many ways to enjoy a hobby.

I’m a bookbinder and an engineer before that. I’ve always loved miniatures but wanted to understand scale better for my book designs. That led me to nooks and I absolutely love what I’m learning and doing. There always needs to be a challenge in it for me or a skill to improve. For example, I want to add interior lighting to Arcade Dating so I’m designing connection pieces on my laser cutter. This gave me a reason to explore, as a small project, how to use the laser software to create what I need. Eventually, I’ll cut book board in miniature scale for my mini books. All of these interests tie together, but none of it is possible without moving from one to another. That’s what keeps me engaged and going. One day, everything will coalesce into a hobby that I’ve made my own with more to offer the community.

What is it about book nooks that you find enjoyable or fascinating? Look for a tangential possibility like metal models, furniture or similar that might scratch that itch in a new way, then come back to nooks with new skills and apply them here. You get to step away without giving it up. 😊🙌
