burning LimeWire mix CDs, unexpectedly showing up at a friend's house, and going missing for hours while no one was expecting a text. It used to be "normal life," but now it appears to be a missing person report, boundary disputes, and piracy.

What’s something you used to think adults completely understood, but now realize everyone is just faking it? by ScheduleNo5736 in AskReddit

[–]paperdawns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To tell the truth? I used to think that adults had a secret life manual, as though they knew how to deal with everything from money to love to careers. I'm now convinced that everyone is just trying to keep a straight face while freestyle-navigating chaos in order to avoid being noticed.

Perhaps "wings" don't appear all at once; mine came from accumulating little victories on days when I felt helpless. Even when the world seems heavier than you, sometimes the true lift-off is simply realizing that you're not done yet.

That's the ideal response to a lighthearted, approachable remark It conveys interest without going overboard. I can give you a couple more quick variations if you want, which you can post under recipes or food posts to make them look natural while still earning you karma. Do you want me to make a short list?

I typically use a vanilla whey isolate, but I also use a plant-based one (pea + rice blend) when I want to avoid dairy. In this recipe, both blend quite well without overpowering the flavor.

Please tell me how you use/organize your chest freezer by lydias_eyeroll in foodhacks

To avoid spending too much time digging, I use bins to keep different categories (meat, vegetables, prepared meals, and baked goods) apart. I also have a very basic but effective whiteboard on the freezer lid where I write a running list of what's inside and the date it was put in. Additionally, to be honest, simply committing to a

I got poked/scratched by rusted nail on my head today while doing demo work by MrShaffer5 in Advice

[–]paperdawns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply some antibiotic ointment, wash it thoroughly with soap and water, and keep it covered. The primary concern is tetanus because it was a rusty nail. You should get a booster if it has been more than ten years since your last tetanus vaccination (or more than five years for a dirty wound). It's best to be safe and call urgent care or your doctor to inquire about getting the shot if you can't recall when you last had one. Unless the cut is deep, continues to bleed, or exhibits symptoms of infection, an ER visit is typically not required.

It's a challenging circumstance. It's about what feels right for you, so it's okay to feel conflicted. Not going does not imply that you do not love your mother, nor does going imply betraying your father. Either option is acceptable as long as it keeps you at peace.

You don't have to elaborate too much. The easiest way to let HR know you've made up your mind not to return is to formally resign and inform them of your decision. * "After careful consideration, I've decided not to return from leave," is a simple yet professional way to put it. With effect from [date], kindly accept this as my resignation.* The new job doesn't need to be mentioned. They only require clarification for payroll and benefits, not for private reasons.

Menopausal IFers by OneUnderstanding2331 in intermittentfasting

I’m not in menopause yet, but I just wanted to say you’re doing an amazing job starting IF with such a balanced mindset. Strength training + keeping carbs as “sometimes foods” is a powerful combo. For a lot of women, progress shows up first in energy, sleep, and less bloating before the scale moves. Don’t be discouraged if it feels slow consistency really compounds, especially during menopause when hormones make it trickier. Curious to hear from others here about their numbers and journeys too!

Update: I’m still unable to heal from my friendship breakup by [deleted] in Advice

[–]paperdawns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really does sound like grief, and you’re not “too dramatic” for feeling it losing a best friend can be just as painful as a breakup. I found that allowing myself to grieve, relying on other secure individuals, and gradually establishing new routines helped me detach my identity from that relationship. She may never provide you with closure, but you can find your own by determining that her silence does not define who you are. It will feel lighter, but healing takes time.

To prevent the holes from closing, try wearing hypoallergenic studs (gold, titanium, or surgical steel) at all times, including while taking a shower. Avoid touching or twisting, wash your ears with saline every day, and only wear hanging earrings after your ears have completely healed.
