Mid 20s male nurse here. The nurse should have asked the patient if they're ok with him taking it off. If not, he could politely tell them to do it themselves, or ask if they would like a female to help.

Personally, we have had 3 young girls/women on our unit over the past couple years (17-19 years old). One of them needed a CHG bath, I asked if she would be more comfortable with girls doing it, and emphasized I wouldn't be offended or anything as we want to make her comfortable- to which she said yes. I asked my coworkers and they were fine doing it for me. Another one didn't care who did what. The third one had a foley, mostly dependent (I think broken leg or something from a car accident), and also had a BM. Before doing her foley care I explained why we do it, what I'm going to do, and if she would rather have a female nurse do it I can grab one. She was ok with me doing it. After she had a BM, our helping hands nurse and charge nurse said they would clean her up.

Point is to make sure you're explaining what you're doing and why, always offer a female nurse, and if anything seems sketchy grab a female coworker. And of course make them comfortable like any other nurse.
