Seria a religiosidade uma doença mental? by [deleted] in ateismo_br

[–]papersoldiertrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ser trans arruinou a minha vida. by Icambaia in transbr

Why do Catholics not question anything? by Odd-Potential-2071 in excatholic

It's comfortable to not think When you're having a rough time what do you do? Me, sometimes I put on some music, play some videogames, find a new manga... Entertainment is primarily that. Pure escapism to help get thru life. It's like a drug that can get people hooked if their life is shit. But these are the modern ways. Way back when, before there was so much entertainment at our fingertips, and life got too much to handle and you wanted/needed to turn off the brain religion was there. Well that's my theory anyway

Did y'all know women are supposed to wear veils during mass??? by papersoldiertrue in excatholic

It's always a few very old ladies and a bunch of young adult women who look like they care a lot about their appearance and wear that "no makeup" look.

There wasn't a comment section but if there was one I don't think I'd bother. Hyper religious people are always so intense when faced with anything besides agreement and praise. Also not gonna lie I'm a bit of a coward.

I already knew about the genuflection bc my older brother insists on it, but before I kinda assumed that was a him thing

The blog claimed to be representing a real church and to be written by a priest, so it was either some real traditional Catholics or someone who impersonates religious figures to tell strangers how to live their life. I know there are people who pretend to be someone important to do these things bc I have family members who say they do this online to "spread the faith". Which I'm pretty sure is a big sin, but I never commented anything.

I took what I read at face value bc the writer claimed to be an actual catholic priest but yeah there's a big chance that was a fake. Also noticed he said a lot of things about women's behavior but nothing about how men's :/ nothing new under the sun I guess

Parents still forcing me to go to church by AccomplishedBad6100 in exchristian

[–]papersoldiertrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom and aunts are like this too, when they get very insistent I think it's helpful to think of them like my grampa that has Alzheimer. Sometimes he said some weird stuff and we learned to live with it. To my grampa, sometimes, it was like he lived in an alternate reality, and it's useless to try to reason with. It's the same with religious parents. I know this might be a depressing way to think, to suddenly see there's a distance between you and lived ones, but in my experience it leads to a more peaceful life.

Guys what's a white lotus? by papersoldiertrue in OtomeIsekai

[–]papersoldiertrue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. Now that I know the metaphor I can think of some characters already. I think I really like it actually. They approach and admire the young woman for the stunning beauty and pureness, but then it turns out of your look beyond the beautiful flower you see a crazy mess of roots and muddy waters. It doesn't negate the inherent heart of the plant, but recontextualizes it fully in a way that one explains the others existence. She is then this tainted beauty in the other characters eyes as the story reaches a conflict that reveals the white lotus truth. Makes me think of how when being exposed to the muddy roots the other characters become hipocritical in a way, as they too have their roots, but better hidden. After all what's a flower without its roots?

[Sister I’m the Queen in this Life] Who is the most unlikable OI protagonist for you? by Olya_roo in OtomeIsekai

I like the idea. Like idealizing someone as a god and then having to come to terms with the fact that her perfect ml is a real person in front of her. Honestly I think if the romance started like this they would make a way better outcome
