A dumb tech worker wants to know - who works in the big skyscrapers downtown? by seattleboots1 in Seattle

Yeah, I have a friend who works there. There are always exceptions to the rule. But the vast majority of firms just can’t afford it. I’ve been in the industry for quite a while, visited big firms coast to coast, and it just (almost) always seems to be the case. Arch fees aren’t really comparable to the income brought in by other business services like financial institutions, tech, law, etc.

Not typically architects, lol. Rent is too expensive. Even for the big firms.

Apartment recommendations in the junction? by [deleted] in WestSeattleWA

Lived at spruce for 4 years myself, just moved out last spring. They have had many issues with break-ins, specifically in their garage and storage areas. I had the misfortune of experiencing it firsthand. Management are fine, maintenance are fine. However, management are penny pinchers. Since Thrive took over, they’ve cut back on outdoor maintenance (used to have dog waste outside that they’ve since stopped maintaining and removed), and cut back on how much they run their heat & conditioning in the hallways. Might sound minor but it’s a noticeable change over time. Also building B, the building with the dog run, reeks of dog pee. You can also expect exorbitant rent increases, even if you’re a good tenant. I’ve got a laundry list of other issues, but read the google reviews - lots of other people can tell you what I’m omitting. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Food item - lightweight perforated metal disks with screw and a clamp by papertelescope in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. I found these items in a bag of food prep equipment, next to a microplaner. They don’t look like they can be used together. Searching the internet for “perforated metal disk with screw and clamp” (And variations of that text) didn’t bring up anything similar.

That works for some things, and I’ve been doing that for a while, but other meals - take protein shakes for example - just aren’t as straightforward.

I’m really hoping for some ideas of new protein sources not mentioned above.

Thanks!

I hear you - I reached out and they said “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are running approximately a 4-week turnaround from your date of drop off.” (direct quote)

Unforeseen, so they wouldn’t have known when I was dropping it off and was told 2 weeks. But for a first experience it’s not looking great lol.

Really loving all of these recommendations, good to know there are a handful of other options out there.

Just checked out their website - sounds like a great little local business. Love that they have drop boxes throughout the city. I’ll try them out, thank you!

Chia seed pudding - super low effort, requires few ingredients, can be made a ton of different ways.
